Beneath his quirky behavior lies a deeply dutiful and caring nature. His playful side is evident in how he decorated the inside of Laboon's stomach with a painted blue sky and a resort-like floating island so he could reside inside to administer treatment.

Crocus possesses exceptional medical knowledge, having served as a physician managing complex health conditions. In combat, he demonstrates skilled use of harpoons and lethal throwing accuracy, able to slay giant squid in a single attack. He is a user of Kenbunshoku Haki. Despite his age, he retains extraordinary physical endurance and durability, capable of swimming unbothered through stomach acid and taking two simultaneous bazooka shell impacts with only minor injuries.
Background
While serving as lighthouse keeper at Twin Cape, Crocus befriended Captain Yorki's Rumbar Pirates and agreed to look after their young whale, Laboon. When the crew failed to return, Crocus joined the Roger Pirates as their doctor to search for news of them while treating Gol D. Roger. During his journey aboard the Oro Jackson, he reached the final island, Laugh Tale, becoming one of the few individuals aware of the true nature of the world. Upon returning to Twin Cape, he built a residence inside Laboon to treat the whale's self-inflicted injuries. He later encounters the Straw Hat Pirates, providing them with guidance and a Log Pose for their journey across the Grand Line.

Crocus maintains strong ties to his former crewmates from the Roger Pirates, including Gol D. Roger, Silvers Rayleigh, and Buggy. He shares a long-standing bond with Yorki and Brook of the Rumbar Pirates, who originally entrusted Laboon to his care. Upon meeting Monkey D.
