Appearance
Gerd is a female giant standing 1700 centimeters tall. She features long blonde hair styled with parted bangs, framing sidelocks, and side braids. Her facial features include blue eyes adorned with prominent eyelashes. As her primary gear, she wields a massive battle axe that matches her giant size.
Personality
Gerd has a compassionate nature, demonstrated since childhood when she befriended Charlotte Linlin without prejudice. She holds a deep affection for normal-sized humans, viewing them fondly like small animals and eagerly seeking their friendship. Tailoring human-sized clothing is one of her favorite hobbies, bringing her immense secret delight whenever she witnesses humans wearing her creations. Conversely, she maintains a strict, zero-tolerance attitude toward eccentric or deceitful individuals, unhesitatingly dishing out physical chastisement with her weapon when provoked.
Abilities
As the ship doctor of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, Gerd possesses medical knowledge capable of treating injuries and providing emergency care. She is also a skilled giant warrior with high combat capability, having previously worked as an S-Class mercenary for Buggy's Delivery. In battle, she effectively wields a huge battle axe, using both its cutting edge and the blunt head of the weapon to strike opponents.
Background
Growing up in the Warland Kingdom of Elbaf, Gerd spent her youth alongside her childhood friends. She spent time at Mother Carmel's Sheep's House and played with a young Charlotte Linlin, though Linlin's tragic frenzy eventually ruined the village and separated them. Twenty-two years ago, Gerd assisted in retrieving historic scholarly texts from the waters of Ohara. She later became the ship doctor of the New Giant Warrior Pirates and joined the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. During later events in Elbaf, she encountered Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, exposing a crewmate's secrets and welcoming the Straw Hats warmly.
Relationships
Gerd shares a lifelong bond with her captain, Hajrudin, whom she has supported since childhood. She maintains close comradeship with fellow giants Goldberg and Stansen. In contrast, she openly disdains her eccentric crewmate Road as well as Prince Loki. Gerd harbors immense affection for humans, forming a friendly rapport with Monkey D. Luffy and gifting custom-made outfits to Nico Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe. She also keeps a giant light-blue owl named Piper as her pet companion.
Trivia
Her name is believed to be derived from Gerðr, a giantess in Norse mythology who became the wife of the fertility god Freyr. Due to the giant race having a lifespan of roughly 300 years, her age of 75 corresponds to approximately 25 in human years. Additionally, her birthday on February 25 is designated in reference to "Semla Day."
