Overview
Gan Fall is a character in the manga and anime series ONE PIECE who served as the ruler, titled "God," of Skypiea. After being overthrown by Enel, he assumed the identity of the "Knight of the Sky" to covertly protect those persecuted by the new regime, eventually being reinstated as ruler following Enel's defeat.
Appearance
Gan Fall is an elderly man distinguished by a long white beard. He wears traditional Western-style knight armor, including a helmet, chest plate, and gauntlets, and wields a large jousting lance.
Personality
Wise, highly responsible, and deeply compassionate, Gan Fall possesses a strong desire for peace. He is dedicated to ending the centuries-old conflict between the inhabitants of Skypiea and the Shandian warriors, showing great care and empathy toward anyone in distress.
Abilities
Gan Fall rides his giant pet bird, Pierre, who ate the Uma Uma no Mi (Horse-Horse Fruit) and can transform into a pegasus. In battle, he fights while flying atop Pierre using his large jousting lance. He also uses a special whistle that he can bestow upon others so they may signal him for immediate assistance.
Background
Originally serving as the peaceful ruler of Skypiea, Gan Fall lost his position after being defeated by Enel. Adopting the name "Knight of the Sky," he patrolled the White Sea to secretly aid escapees and rebels fleeing Enel's forces. Upon encountering Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, he joined their struggle against Enel's divine priests. After Monkey D. Luffy defeated Enel, Gan Fall was asked by both the Skypieans and the Shandians to reassume his role as God.
Relationships
Gan Fall stands in direct opposition to Enel, who violently took his throne. He establishes a friendly bond with Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, presenting them with a whistle to call upon his help. Though faced with historical hostility from the Shandian warrior Wyper, Gan Fall continuously seeks reconciliation, earning the deep respect of Skypiea residents like Conis and Pagaya.
Trivia
The whistle Gan Fall offers guarantees his help for a single emergency at no cost. In the world of Skypiea, the title "God" denotes the political head of state rather than a divine religious deity.
