Howling Gab

Overview

Howling Gab is a senior officer and combatant of the Red Hair Pirates in the ONE PIECE series. As a veteran member under the command of Captain Shanks, he was present during the crew's stay at Foosha Village twelve years prior to the main storyline. Possessing a imposing physical presence alongside a surprisingly expressive nature, he serves as one of the key fighters within the Yonko crew.

Appearance

Howling Gab features a wild appearance distinguished by sharp fangs and an extraordinarily long, voluminous mane of hair that reaches down to his waist, leaving his forehead visible. Twelve years prior, his hair reached just past his shoulders and his frame was noticeably slimmer. Over time, his body grew vastly larger, causing his shirt to fit tightly across his muscular build. His outfit includes accessories such as suspenders and bracelets.

Personality

Despite his fierce and intimidating exterior, Howling Gab is a kind-hearted individual who can be surprisingly timid. He is quite expressive, often showing his emotions directly on his face. In stark contrast to his rugged combatant status, he has a strong aversion to bugs and ghosts. He is fiercely protective of his crewmates, struggling to contain his urge to strike back whenever he or his companions are harmed.

Abilities

In battle, Howling Gab utilizes a unique technique known as a cutting roar, releasing shockwave-like slashes directly from his mouth. He is also capable of immobilizing opponents with a paralyzing effect, allowing him to falter enemies and control the flow of combat.

Background

Howling Gab's history with the Red Hair Pirates extends back at least twelve years, during which the crew spent an extended period stationed at Foosha Village, bringing him into contact with a young Monkey D. Luffy. He later appeared alongside Shanks and the rest of the core officers at the climax of the Summit War at Marineford to bring an end to the conflict, continuing his duties as a senior officer aboard the Red Force.

Relationships

As a senior member of the Red Hair Pirates, Howling Gab serves directly under the crew's captain, Shanks, working alongside fellow officers such as Benn Beckman, Yasopp, and Lucky Roux. He also shares an acquaintance with Monkey D. Luffy dating back to the crew's stay in Foosha Village.

Trivia

In certain promotional materials and setting books, his name is stylized as "Howling" Gab, suggesting that "Howling" may function as an epithet or moniker rather than part of his given name. Due to his wild visual design and his ability to emit destructive attacks from his mouth, fans often draw comparisons between him and El Drago, the antagonist of the first ONE PIECE theatrical movie.
