Following a series of disgraceful incidents at the Baratie restaurant and his subsequent defense of a pirate, he suffers a heavy demotion to Seaman Recruit. Though initially portrayed as a pretentious officer, he becomes a memorable recurring figure recognized for his fierce fighting style, passion for dance, and deep sense of camaraderie.
Appearance
Fullbody is a tall man measuring 184 cm in height with short pink hair styled into a neat slicked-back look and a visible scar beneath his right eye. He wears a purple pinstriped suit paired with a Marine officer's peaked cap. For combat, he equips brass knuckles on his hands; initially, he wore a single brass knuckle on his right hand during his time as a Lieutenant, but later transitioned to equipping them on both hands following his demotion.
Personality
Fullbody exhibits a prideful and somewhat vain demeanor, often trying to act sophisticated around women by posing as a refined wine connoisseur. When his ignorance is exposed, he can react pettily out of bruised ego. However, beneath his pretentious exterior lies a genuine commitment to his duty as a Marine. He adheres to a moral code that protects innocent civilians during combat and harbors a relentless hostility toward outlaw pirates. Furthermore, he possesses a passionate love for dance and a fiercely loyal heart, willing to sacrifice his own rank and status to defend a friend made through their shared love of music and movement.
Abilities
Fullbody specializes in hand-to-hand brawling combat, utilizing brass knuckles as his primary weapon. Even while wearing a knuckle duster on only one hand, he demonstrated enough power to effortlessly defeat the bounty hunter duo Yosaku and Johnny and shatter a thick table in half. On Mirrorball Island, he dominated the Tulip Pirates single-handedly until a hostage was drawn. After re-evaluating his style and equipping brass knuckles on both hands, he showcased enhanced offensive prowess, capturing an entire Baroque Works ship alongside Jango while leaving the battle unscathed.
Background
Beginning his career as a Marine Headquarters Lieutenant, Fullbody's early reputation suffered after a disastrous visit to the ocean restaurant Baratie, where his disrespectful treatment of food resulted in a brutal beating by the chef Sanji. He later entered a dance contest on Mirrorball Island, where he bonded deeply with the former pirate Jango. After teaming up to protect the island from invading pirates, Fullbody performed his duty by arresting Jango, but subsequently stormed the Marine courtroom to plead for his friend's life through dance. Though he successfully won Jango's acquittal, Fullbody was demoted to Seaman Recruit. Falling in love with Captain Hina, both men joined her unit, serving through major conflicts including the Summit War and eventually earning a promotion to Lieutenant Commander after two years.
Relationships
Sanji humiliated Fullbody at the Baratie when the Marine attempted to pose as a connoisseur and ruin the restaurant's reputation, leading to Sanji delivering a severe beating for wasting food. Jango became Fullbody's closest companion after meeting at a dance competition; their powerful friendship led Fullbody to risk his career to save Jango from execution, after which they became inseparable partners in the Marines. Both men fell deeply in love at first sight with Marine Officer Hina, proudly serving as her loyal subordinates. Additionally, Zeff, the head chef of the Baratie, forcefully kicked Fullbody out of the establishment during his initial violent outburst.
Trivia
Fullbody's name is derived from the wine term used to describe rich and heavy-flavored wines, referencing his fondness for attempting to sound knowledgeable about alcoholic beverages. Despite Marine regulations strictly requiring personnel ranked Seaman Apprentice or lower to wear standard recruit uniforms, Fullbody ignored this rule after his demotion, continuing to wear his signature suit alongside his Marine peaked cap. His official birthday, September 7th, is a pun based on the Japanese numerical pronunciation for knuckles.
