Overview
Stronger is a character in the manga series One Piece who serves as the personal steed for Doc Q, the doctor of the Blackbeard Pirates. He is almost constantly seen carrying his master around. Despite bearing a name that implies superior physical power, he suffers from a chronically frail and sickly condition much like his owner, yet remains a dependable companion who supports the crew during their voyages and conflicts.
Appearance
Stronger is a horse with a noticeably weak and sickly physical build. He is frequently depicted coughing up blood from his mouth. When using his Devil Fruit transformation, large wings sprout directly from his body.
Personality
Despite his physical weakness, Stronger demonstrates exceptional endurance and patience. He remains dedicated to carrying Doc Q and will faithfully bear additional heavy passengers like Marshall D. Teach despite the physical strain it causes him. He is notably fond of carrots that contain no explosives.
Abilities
Through Devil Fruit hunting, Stronger acquired the Mythical Zoan-type Horse-Horse Fruit, Model: Pegasus. This grants him the ability to manifest wings and fly through the air. Because he was already a horse, the fruit primarily bestows aerial mobility, yet he possesses sufficient physical stamina to carry both Doc Q (who stands over three meters tall) and Marshall D. Teach into the sky. When severed by Trafalgar Law's Amputate ability, he sustained no permanent harm due to the non-lethal nature of the power.
Background
Stronger made his first appearance in Mock Town on the island of Jaya carrying Doc Q. During the breach of Impel Down, he and his master were temporarily brought down by poison, though he recovered in time to accompany Doc Q throughout the Summit War at Marineford. In the interlude between the Wano Country and Egghead arcs, he revealed his newly acquired Devil Fruit powers by flying Doc Q and Marshall D. Teach into an aerial ambush against the Heart Pirates. Although temporarily bisected mid-air by Trafalgar Law, he survived unscathed and was seen carrying Doc Q as usual after the battle.
Relationships
Doc Q is Stronger's master and constant companion, sharing a mutually sickly condition as Stronger dutifully carries him wherever he goes. Stronger also serves as aerial transport for Marshall D. Teach, the admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates, bearing both Teach and Doc Q into combat. During an engagement with the Heart Pirates, he was targeted by their captain, Trafalgar Law, whose Devil Fruit technique briefly sliced Stronger's body in two.
Trivia
Stronger's name creates a deliberate irony, as its literal meaning contrasts directly with his frail and blood-coughing appearance. His transformation into a pegasus serves as a conceptual counterpart to Pierre from the Sky Island arc, who was a bird that ate a Horse-Horse Fruit, whereas Stronger is a horse that gained pegasus powers through his own fruit.
