00 Gundam
The GN-0000 00 Gundam is a fourth-generation Mobile Suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, primarily piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei of Celestial Being. Designed around the Twin Drive System, it utilizes two synchronized GN Drives to produce an exponential increase in particle output rather than a simple doubling. Upon combining with its support craft, the 0 Raiser, it attains full operational capability under the designation 00 Raiser, serving as Celestial Being's ultimate combat unit.
Overview
The GN-0000 00 Gundam is a fourth-generation Mobile Suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, primarily piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei of Celestial Being. Designed around the Twin Drive System, it utilizes two synchronized GN Drives to produce an exponential increase in particle output rather than a simple doubling. Upon combining with its support craft, the 0 Raiser, it attains full operational capability under the designation 00 Raiser, serving as Celestial Being's ultimate combat unit.
Appearance
Standing at a head height of 18.3 meters, the unit features armor constructed from E-carbon. Its most distinctive structure consists of two cone-shaped GN Drive units mounted on articulated shoulder assemblies. When combined into the 00 Raiser, the fuselage of the 0 Raiser connects to the rear back as a main thruster and sensor pod, while its twin wing binders latch over the shoulder drives to function as heavy shields, giving the suit a draped, cloak-like silhouette. These binders integrate large clavicle antennas for particle control. In the Particle Storage Tank variant, the shoulder cones are replaced with cylindrical storage tanks, and the front sensor of the 0 Raiser shifts from orange to milky white.
Abilities
The Twin Drive System synchronizes two GN Drives to yield an exponential square in particle production. Under Trans-Am activation, particle emissions exceed seven times standard output, inducing quantumization and neural linkage across the battlefield. Merging with the 0 Raiser dramatically improves mobility, target acquisition, and omnidirectional GN Field generation. Its weaponry includes the dual-mode GN Sword II and GN Sword III, which switch between physical blades and multi-barrel beam rifles. In full output mode, it projects the massive Raiser Sword beam saber. Furthermore, when piloted by a purebred Innovator, it can execute Trans-Am Burst, releasing rainbow GN particles that expand human consciousness, disrupt enemy quantum brainwaves, and neutralize particle toxicity.
Background
Conceived under the master plan of Aeolia Schenberg, the 00 Gundam was engineered by Celestial Being's mechanic team led by Ian Vashti. Initial tests using the GN Drives from Gundam Exia and the 0 Gundam failed to achieve stable synchronization without forced Trans-Am activation. The issue was overcome by pairing the suit with the 0 Raiser support unit. During clashes against A-LAWS and the Innovators, its operational performance enabled Setsuna F. Seiei's evolution into a purebred Innovator. In the final battle, it engaged the Reborns Gundam and was heavily damaged, with one drive stolen by Ribbons Almark. Reconstructed with particle storage tanks, it served as an interim defense unit during the ELS invasion before being consumed by ELS assimilation and destroyed via self-destruction.
Relationships
Pilot Setsuna F. Seiei underwent physical and mental evolution into a purebred Innovator through prolonged exposure to the intense GN particles generated by the unit. Saji Crossroad, along with the red Haro unit, co-piloted the 0 Raiser to optimize generator balancing and system controls. Chief mechanic Ian Vashti resolved its operational bottleneck by designing the 0 Raiser stabilizer. In the climax of the conflict, enemy leader Ribbons Almark locked in combat with the suit and forcibly seized its left shoulder GN Drive. During the subsequent ELS encounter, Tieria Erde utilized the Seravee Gundam II to rescue Setsuna before the contaminated unit was detonated.
Trivia
The suffix "Raiser" appended to its combined designation signifies a machine that has transcended the standard threshold of a Gundam into the next stage of evolution. As one of the flagship mobile suits of the franchise, it has been widely released across numerous model kit lines, including High Grade, 1/100, Master Grade, Real Grade, Perfect Grade, and BB Senshi, alongside high-end figure series such as ROBOT Spirits and METAL BUILD. It also makes prominent appearances in digital media, crossover games, and trading card games such as Battle Spirits.
