Overview

A central protagonist in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Initially serving as the commander of the Third Division—a non-regular unit of child soldiers at Chryse Guard Security (CGS) on Mars—he leads a revolt against the corrupt management to establish Tekkadan, taking on the role of its leader. Possessing exceptional charisma and strong leadership skills, he earns the absolute trust of his comrades as he strives to secure a safe haven where these young mercenaries can finally find a sense of belonging.

Appearance

He is exceptionally tall with long legs, dark skin, golden eyes, and silver hair marked by a distinctive forelock. He has a scar on his left arm, surgical marks from the Alaya-Vijnana System on his back, and is left-handed. His signature attire includes a shemagh wrapped around his neck. Later, he adopts a style consisting of a wine-red suit, a black shirt, a white necktie, and a Tekkadan jacket worn over the ensemble.

Personality

Dutiful and earnest, he harbors a fierce devotion to his comrades, treating them as irreplaceable family. As a leader, he bears an immense sense of responsibility and conceals his inner doubts to remain a resolute pillar for his crew. He is deeply motivated by the intense, unwavering expectations of his childhood friend Mikazuki Augus. Pragmatic and rational, he is capable of making cold decisions when necessary to protect his group, yet he also demonstrates generosity by allowing members to leave peacefully with severance. His initial distrust toward outside adults is tempered by his respect for those who treat him as an equal.

Abilities

Possessing sharp insight and a quick intellect, he excels at evaluating his subordinates' strengths to devise tactical maneuvers and analyzing the true intent behind speech. Having underwent Alaya-Vijnana System surgery, he enters the battlefield aboard double-seater Mobile Workers to direct combat operations from the front lines, sharing risks with his troops. Although a dedicated mobile suit, the Shiden Orga Custom, was assigned to him, he primarily acts as a tactical commander rather than a mobile suit pilot. While a highly capable battlefield commander, his long-term strategic planning relies heavily on tactical advisors.

Background

Raised as a street child in the impoverished slums of Mars, he joined the private security firm CGS alongside Mikazuki to survive, becoming the commander of its Third Division composed of child soldiers. Enduring severe mistreatment from adult officers, he seized the opportunity during a Gjallarhorn attack to launch a coup, overthrowing the company's management and establishing Tekkadan. Taking on a high-risk contract to escort the Martian activist Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth, he navigated intense space combat and financial hardships. To secure resources, he forged an alliance with Teiwaz and established a sworn brotherhood with Naze Turbine. Through these connections, he guided his young crew through numerous battles to reach Earth.

Relationships

His bond with his childhood friend, Mikazuki Augus, is deeper than blood brotherhood; Mikazuki's absolute trust serves as both Orga's ultimate motivation and a heavy emotional weight. Biscuit Griffon served as his trusted strategist, offering calm counsel that balanced Orga's impulsive ambition. He forms a sworn brotherly bond with Naze Turbine of Teiwaz, who serves as a mentor figure regarding organizational leadership and the true meaning of family. Although initially distant toward adult advisor Merribit Stapleton, he gradually comes to respect her input. His engagement with Kudelia Aina Bernstein serves as the catalyst for Tekkadan's initial journey.

Trivia

In NHK's 40th Anniversary All Gundam Major Poll, he achieved 1st place in the character category for individual works and 3rd place overall. His final motivational words to his comrades to keep moving forward, combined with the ending theme Freesia, became an enduring Internet phenomenon and inspired widespread creative parodies. Additionally, his assigned mobile suit, the Shiden Orga Custom—referred to by his men as the King's Chair—was never actually piloted by him in the television series, though later video games provided non-canonical scenarios where he takes its controls.
