Darilbalde
The Darilbalde is a 5th-generation demonstration mobile suit manufactured by Jeturk Heavy Machinery in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, piloted primarily by Guel Jeturk of the Jeturk House at the Asticassia School of Technology. Rejecting the forbidden GUND format technology, the suit incorporates a specialized decision-expanding artificial intelligence control system to command autonomous equipment, serving as an advanced showcase of Jeturk's proprietary technologies.
Overview
The Darilbalde is a 5th-generation demonstration mobile suit manufactured by Jeturk Heavy Machinery in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, piloted primarily by Guel Jeturk of the Jeturk House at the Asticassia School of Technology. Rejecting the forbidden GUND format technology, the suit incorporates a specialized decision-expanding artificial intelligence control system to command autonomous equipment, serving as an advanced showcase of Jeturk's proprietary technologies.
Appearance
The Darilbalde is a red-armored mobile suit featuring a single head horn, an assault visor, and a single green eye. Shell units are embedded in its chest, both shoulders, and legs, glowing green when the decision-expanding AI is active. Following later upgrades, it receives a larger backpack unit alongside modified colors and structural arrangements for its remote drone units.
Personality
While the mobile suit lacks a mind of its own, its installed decision-expanding AI executes automated combat maneuvers and controls drone weapons. In its early configuration, the system suffered from rigid responses that could be outmaneuvered by experienced opponents. However, after adjustments and synchronization with pilot Guel Jeturk, the unit exhibits intuitive reactions, such as autonomously deploying defensive tactics to protect its pilot in key moments.
Abilities
The machine focuses on versatile combat through AI-driven remote weaponry. Its fixed armaments include head-mounted beam vulcan cannons, knee-dispensed pellet mines, and wire-guided foot units called Shackle Claws that can restrain and shock targets. Its hand-held weaponry transitions from a splittable Beam Javelin (comprising a beam anchor and beam kunai) to the versatile Composite Arms featuring a beam shot rifle and gunblade. Additionally, it deploys detachable forearm drones known as Ishvara (later replaced by the black-colored Gussar Ishvara with explosive cables) and autonomous shoulder shield drones named Ambika (upgraded to Daya Ambika with enhanced thrusters).
Background
After initial testing by Jeturk Heavy Machinery, the Darilbalde was deployed in a duel against Suletta Mercury's Gundam Aerial. Initially operating under AI automation alongside covert interference arranged by Vim Jeturk, the suit eventually shifted to manual control when Guel disabled the system, though it was severely damaged in the resulting battle. It was subsequently repaired and upgraded by the Jeturk House members, adding enhanced ranged capabilities before returning to action in both duels and real combat scenarios.
Relationships
Guel Jeturk serves as the primary pilot of the unit. The suit was created under the direction of Vim Jeturk, who sought to demonstrate Jeturk Heavy Machinery's technical strength through its autonomous AI. Maintenance and equipment tuning were later handled by Jeturk House member Kamil Keshink and his peers. In combat, the unit repeatedly crossed blades with Suletta Mercury's Gundam Aerial and was later fielded in confrontation against Shaddiq Zenelli's Michaelis.
Trivia
Designated with the model number MD-0064, the name Darilbalde can be interpreted through German components to translate to 'chosen beloved person.' The titles of its drone systems, Ishvara and Ambika, derive from figures in Hindu mythology representing a supreme deity and a protective goddess, respectively. Outside the series, the unit and its pilot were featured in a official promotional collaboration with Yamazaki Biscuits for their Aerial snack line.
