Kshatriya
Kshatriya is a Newtype-use Mobile Suit belonging to the Neo Zeon remnant faction known as "The Sleeves" in Mobile Suit Gundam UC. Designated as NZ-666, it was engineered to condense the immense firepower of the earlier 40-meter-class Quin Mantha into a standard 20-meter-class frame. Named after the ancient Indian warrior caste, it ranks as a high-performance machine second only to the faction's flagship unit, Sinanju.
Overview
Kshatriya is a Newtype-use Mobile Suit belonging to the Neo Zeon remnant faction known as "The Sleeves" in Mobile Suit Gundam UC. Designated as NZ-666, it was engineered to condense the immense firepower of the earlier 40-meter-class Quin Mantha into a standard 20-meter-class frame. Named after the ancient Indian warrior caste, it ranks as a high-performance machine second only to the faction's flagship unit, Sinanju.
Appearance
Standing at a head height of 22.3 meters with a base weight of 29.7 tons, Kshatriya features a green armor scheme with intricate sleeve and chest engravings characteristic of Neo Zeon's remnants. Its head adopts a mono-eye system paired with an extra-long antenna. Purple light glows through the gaps in its armor from the internal psycoframe. Its most prominent feature is the four massive green binders attached to its shoulders, which can fully enclose the central body like a pod.
Personality
Due to its intricate weapon systems and psycommu interface, the machine requires an exceptionally capable Newtype pilot to operate. In battle, it acts with relentless efficiency and obedience to its master's commands, emphasizing its role as a formidable, highly disciplined instrument of war.
Abilities
By integrating psycoframe material around the cockpit, the suit miniaturizes its psycommu system while maintaining extreme combat performance. Its torso houses four mega particle cannons and two machine cannons, while its wrists store combination beam guns and beam sabers; it can also carry a four-barrel beam gatling gun. Each of its four binders contains two mega particle cannons, an I-field generator, a hidden sub-arm equipped with a beam saber, and six miniaturized funnels (24 in total). The binders function simultaneously as heavy shields, AMBAC units, high-thrust vectors, and funnel containers, and can even be launched as giant remote weapons in emergency situations.
Background
Kshatriya descends from the NZ-series technology developed during the First Neo Zeon War, specifically inheriting the concept of the NZ-000 Quin Mantha and NZ-333 Alpha Azieru. Designed to solve the unwieldy size of the 40-meter Quin Mantha, it utilized prototype psycoframe components produced by Anaheim Electronics during Char's Rebellion. Because surplus psycoframe parts were limited, only a single Kshatriya was ever built. After suffering severe damage in combat against the Unicorn Gundam, the machine was brought aboard the Nahel Argama, where it underwent emergency field modifications designated as the Vesselung and Repaired variants.
Relationships
The machine is primarily piloted by Marida Cruz, a Cyber-Newtype cloned from the Puru series whose strong Newtype abilities allow her to master its complex systems. Marida operates under the commands of Suberoa Zinnerman, captain of the Garancieres. Within the hierarchy of The Sleeves, Kshatriya serves as the secondary flagship behind Full Frontal's Sinanju. It also engages in fierce combat with the Unicorn Gundam, leading to its eventual capture and repair.
Trivia
The suit's name originates from the Kshatriya caste of ancient India, denoting its status as second to the flagship Sinanju. Due to its four large binders and vibrant green color scheme, it earned nicknames such as "Quad-Wing" among Federation pilots and "Bell Pepper" among fans. In Japanese, its name is frequently misspelled as "Kshatria" instead of "Kshatriya". Notably, its HGUC model kit utilizes polycap runners designed in the mid-1990s, accidentally paralleling the in-universe lore of incorporating older internal components.
