Overview
Chan Agi is a character from the anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. Serving as a Warrant Officer and technical officer in the Earth Federation's Londo Bell unit, she previously belonged to Karaba. As Amuro Ray's romantic partner and technical aide, she oversees the development of the iconic ν Gundam. During the final battle over Axis, she sorties in a damaged Re-GZ to deliver a vital psycho-frame component to Amuro, but meets a tragic end when shot down by Hathaway Noa.
Appearance
Chan Agi is a young woman with short blue hair and blue eyes. She wears the standard Earth Federation military uniform, consisting of a military jacket and boots.
Personality
Chan Agi is highly intelligent and proactive, yet possesses a straightforward nature. She can display a harsh, demanding demeanor when dealing with Anaheim Electronics personnel in Amuro Ray's absence. Conversely, she acts sweet and mild-mannered around Amuro, showing a deeply devoted side that drives her to put herself in harm's way to support him.
Abilities
As a skilled technical officer, Chan supervised the construction and tuning of the ν Gundam at Anaheim Electronics' Von Braun facility. When possessing a sample of the psycho-frame, her intuitive senses heightened, enabling her to manually operate a Ra Cailum gun turret and shoot down Rezun Schnyder's Geara Doga. Though primarily an engineer, she also demonstrated the ability to pilot a damaged RGZ-91 Re-GZ directly into combat.
Background
Having served in Karaba before joining Londo Bell, Chan was tasked with directing ν Gundam's development at Anaheim Electronics before joining the flagship Ra Cailum. During the climax of the Axis Shock, she took a half-destroyed Re-GZ to deliver the psycho-frame sample to Amuro. On the battlefield, she shot down Quess Paraya's Alpha Azieru to protect Hathaway Noa; however, an enraged Hathaway immediately opened fire on her Re-GZ with his Jegan, killing her. After her death, the floating psycho-frame sample released a mysterious radiance that aided in stopping Axis.
Relationships
Chan is the romantic partner of Amuro Ray, supporting him both professionally and personally. Bright Noa serves as her commanding officer, while Astonrage Medozzo and Kayra Su are her engineering colleagues aboard the Ra Cailum. Quess Paraya viewed Chan as an annoying obstacle to her feelings for Amuro. When Chan destroyed Quess's mobile armor to protect Hathaway Noa, a grief-stricken Hathaway turned his weapon on Chan, resulting in her death.
Trivia
In the novel novelization Beltorchika's Children, Beltorchika Irma replaces her role, meaning Chan does not exist in that storyline. External media such as the Super Robot Taisen games sometimes portray a romantic rival relationship between Chan and Beltorchika over Amuro. In the Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Versus arcade series, Chan is featured as the playable pilot for the Re-GZ.
