Overview

Gundam Lfrith is a prototype mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury PROLOGUE. Designated by the model number XGF-02, it was developed by Ochs Earth Corporation as a GUND-ARM utilizing GUND Format technology. Mainly piloted by Elnora Samaya alongside her young daughter Ericht Samaya, the machine stands out for its distinctive pink and white color scheme, which is unconventional for a primary Gundam unit.

Appearance

The unit features a distinctive pink and white color scheme paired with green eyes and a V-fin antenna on its head. Two vulcan guns are built into the temples of its head, and its chest houses a shell unit crafted via in-mold molding. Its backpack holds two beam sabers, while its main hand-held gear includes a Receiver Gun and a large Compo GUND-BIT Shield assembled from seven Bit Staves.

Personality

As a mobile suit, Gundam Lfrith has no innate human personality, though Dr. Cardo Nabo referred to it in its inactive phase as a baby. It initially failed to respond to test pilot Elnora Samaya, but seamlessly awakened upon linking with four-year-old Ericht Samaya, operating smoothly without inflicting deadly data storm strain on the child.

Abilities

Incorporating the GUND Format, the machine operates swarm remote weapons known as GUND-BITs. Its fixed armaments include two head vulcan guns and two beam sabers stored on the backpack. The handheld Receiver Gun can project a beam blade for close combat and upgrades into a high-output Gunbit Rifle when combined with two Bit Staves. Its Compo GUND-BIT Shield, made of seven Bit Staves, can form a protective barrier, separate for all-range beam attacks, or dock onto the main body in Bit-on Form to boost mobility.

Background

Developed at Fólkvangr by Ochs Earth Corporation and the Vanadis Institute, this prototype was identified internally as LF-03. Its activation tests repeatedly stalled due to data storm issues until an armed assault by the Dominicus corps. During the attack, four-year-old Ericht Samaya synchronized with its system, allowing Lfrith to awaken and destroy three enemy Heingra units before escaping. Following the event, the suit was comprehensively refitted by Prospera (Elnora) into Gundam Aerial, with Ericht's biological code integrated into its framework.

Relationships

Elnora Samaya served as the suit's official test pilot, while her daughter Ericht Samaya achieved full synchronization to awaken the machine, later having her biological code integrated directly into it. Nadim Samaya managed its development, and Dr. Cardo Nabo viewed the machine as the gateway to humanity's future. Following the assault on Fólkvangr, the suit was extensively modified into Gundam Aerial.

Trivia

The mecha design was created by JNTHED. Its name is believed to derive from Gandálfr, a magic-using elf in Norse mythology, while its early development code name was Oznes, an anagram of the Japanese word for ancestor (senzo). The 1/144 HG plastic model kit gained widespread popularity on social media for its exceptional articulation, allowing it to perform a full yankee squat. The machine is also featured in the arcade game Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base.
