Banagher Links is the primary protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam UC and its related works. Originally a student at an Anaheim Electronics-affiliated technical school in the Industrial 7 space colony, his life changes after rescuing a mysterious girl named Audrey Burne. Entrusted with the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, he becomes a central figure in the conflict between the Earth Federation and Neo Zeon remnants over the secret known as Laplace's Box.

Banagher is a youth with short, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. His standard outfit consists of a pale yellow hoodie worn beneath a customized jacket adapted from his Anaheim Industry Technical School uniform.

Banagher has an earnest, highly compassionate, and straightforward nature. He judges individuals based on their character rather than their political or military affiliation, rejecting the cynical schemes of adults and institutions. Even when witnessing tragedy, he holds fast to a belief in human potential and refuses to surrender to despair. Through encounters with various father figures, he matures from a naive student into a resilient and empathetic pilot.
Abilities
Banagher possesses potent Newtype capabilities steming from specialized training in early childhood. Having worked part-time collecting space debris with petit-mobiles for Buch Junk Company, he holds extensive technical knowledge and adept piloting skills for both petit-mobiles and mobile suits. As the pilot of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, he can trigger the NT-D system and generate a massive Psycho-Field powerful enough to block a colony laser strike.
Background
Born as the illegitimate son of Cardeas Vist, Banagher was raised by his mother until her death, after which his father arranged for him to attend a technical school on Industrial 7. After saving Audrey Burne, he was swept into a military clash where his dying father handed him the Unicorn Gundam as the key to Laplace's Box. Following the battle across Earth and space to unveil the Box, he continued operating discreetly, later appearing in U.C. 0097 during Mobile Suit Gundam NT in a Silver Bullet Suppressor to aid Jona Basta.
Relationships
Banagher shares a deep romantic bond with Audrey Burne (Mineva Lao Zabi), whom he resolves to protect. He inherits his family destiny from his father Cardeas Vist and great-grandfather Syam Vist. While opposing Full Frontal as his main adversary, he is deeply influenced by guidance from Suberoa Zinnerman, Daguza Mackle, and Marida Cruz. He also forms a complex connection with Riddhe Marcenas, moving from conflict to fighting side-by-side.
Trivia
Banagher's character concept draws inspiration from Luke Skywalker of the Star Wars franchise. Outside the Gundam series, his voice made a cameo appearance in the film City Hunter: Angel Dust as the background dialogue emitted from the real-life Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba. In the game Super Robot Wars 30, he keeps his normal suit helmet on during dialogue scenes to protect his identity.
