Overview

Emily Armond is the primary heroine of the first generation in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Introduced as a childhood friend and classmate of the protagonist Flit Asuno on the space colony Nora, she becomes his emotional rock throughout his turbulent life. Following the war, she marries Flit and takes on the name Emily Asuno, becoming the matriarch of the Asuno family as the mother of Asemu and Unoa, and later the grandmother of Kio Asuno across the story's multi-generational narrative.

Appearance

Emily is depicted as a young girl with short blonde hair and blue eyes. Initially appearing at the age of fourteen during the first arc, her visual depiction ages alongside the progression of the narrative. Although she does not make a direct physical appearance in the fourth generation story arc, character design sheets were created for her, and she is rendered within the Asuno family portrait shown in the final epilogue and ending sequences.

Personality

Emily possesses a gentle, caring nature and gets along well with Haro. She is deeply concerned for Flit Asuno's safety whenever he pilots the Gundam into combat. Though initially confused and uneasy about military operations, advice from older figures helps her overcome her doubts and openly defend her companions. In the novel adaptation, she displays emotional vulnerability and jealousy when seeing Flit close to another girl, yet demonstrates immense resilience by discarding her distress and offering heartfelt encouragement to Flit during his moments of deep despair, helping him retain his capacity for love.

Abilities

While non-combatant in nature, the novelization reveals that she travels into space in later arcs and participates in the development process of the mobile suit Gundam AGE-FX. Beyond technical involvement, she demonstrates keen emotional insight, recognizing the underlying personal struggles of family members and acting as a steadfast emotional anchor for the Asuno household across several decades.

Background

Emily grew up as the granddaughter of engineer Vargas Dyson. On the space colony Nora, she became the first friend to Flit Asuno after he arrived having lost his mother. When Nora was destroyed, she boarded the battleship Diva, remaining by Flit's side throughout the conflict. After the war concluded, she married Flit, taking the surname Asuno, and gave birth to their children, Asemu Asuno and Unoa Asuno. In later years, she became the grandmother of Kio Asuno, continuing to watch over the family for over half a century.

Relationships

Emily is the childhood friend and eventual wife of Flit Asuno, serving as his lifelong emotional pillar. She is the granddaughter of mechanics engineer Vargas Dyson. Together with Flit, she raised their son Asemu Asuno and daughter Unoa Asuno, later becoming the grandmother of Kio Asuno through Asemu and his wife Romary Stone. Her childhood circle includes classmate Dike Gunhale. During her time aboard the Diva, interactions with Captain Grodek Ainoa and Lalaparley Maderna helped shape her understanding of the war effort.

Trivia

In the novel adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Emily is portrayed as a highly popular figure at school, which causes her male classmates to resent Flit Asuno. In the video game Super Robot Wars BX, she makes a voice-only communication appearance in an endgame narrative demo without a visual graphic, offering warm words of gratitude to her husband Flit after his lengthy conflict finally reaches its conclusion.
