Overview

Ericht Samaya, affectionately known as Eri, is a central figure in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and its PROLOGUE. The daughter of test pilot Elnora Samaya and development manager Nadim Samaya, she grew up on the Fólkvangr space front. At just four years old, she established a unique link with the Gundam Lfrith, making her the youngest mobile suit pilot in Gundam history.

Appearance

Ericht inherits her red hair from her mother, alongside a gentle facial shape and distinct short, rounded eyebrows passed down from her father. As a toddler, she wears a protective headguard resembling rabbit ears. Within the data storm network, she appears as her young self clad in a suit, surrounded by multiple ethereal forms. Later, her consciousness resides inside a small keyholder strap.

Personality

In early childhood, Ericht was bright, cheerful, and filled with intense curiosity. Following the loss of her physical body, her speech pattern evolves to use masculine personal pronouns and a sharp, somewhat cynical sense of humor. Despite her sarcastic exterior, she is fiercely protective of her family, choosing to alienate her sister from their mother's vengeful path to ensure her safety.

Abilities

Ericht possesses an extraordinary aptitude for GUND format technology, achieving complete synchronization with the Gundam Lfrith at layer 33 when she was just four years old. As a digital entity inside the Permet network, she can form data storm spaces to repel unwanted intruders and commandeer external mobile suits or systems once reaching high Permet score thresholds.

Background

During an attack on Fólkvangr, Ericht accidentally activated Lfrith's weapons while fleeing, escaping space alongside her mother due to her father's sacrifice. Because her young body could not survive the harsh environment, her mother transferred her consciousness into the Gundam's network to save her. Years later, she acts from within the machine to protect her clone sister, Suletta Mercury, eventually forcing her out of the conflict.

Relationships

Elnora Samaya (Prospera) is her devoted mother, and Nadim Samaya is her father. Dr. Cardo Nabo introduced her to the Gundam system as a child. Suletta Mercury is a repli-child created from Ericht's genetic material, whom Ericht loves and protects as a younger sister. She later shares a playful, bickering relationship with Miorine Rembran.

Trivia

At four years old, Ericht holds the title of the youngest pilot to operate and destroy an enemy unit in the Gundam franchise. The mascot character frame into which her mind is transferred at the end of the series matches a strap owned by Suletta.
