Overview
The Gundam Heavyarms Custom, officially designated as XXXG-01H2 Gundam Heavyarms Kai, is a mobile suit appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and its continuation, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Originally created by Doctor S and later modified in space by Howard, this heavy artillery machine is piloted by Trowa Barton. Renowned as a "walking arsenal," it trades close-combat gear for immense ranged firepower. The Endless Waltz design, updated by Hajime Katoki, features an expanded weapons loadout and a distinct color scheme, often earning it the fan and media moniker of Gundam Heavyarms Custom.
Appearance
Standing 16.7 meters tall and weighing 8.2 metric tons, the unit is constructed from Gundanium alloy armor. Unlike its original red scheme, the Endless Waltz design adopts a dark blue and dark green militaristic color scheme. It features a head with a classic V-fin and grey vulcan ports, and its right faceplate is notably adorned with a half clown mask during a key deployment. The machine drops the forearm shield and army knife in favor of a symmetrical silhouette built around mounting points for wide gatling systems and fully integrated internal missile pods across its shoulders, chest, skirt armor, and legs.
Abilities
The suit functions as a high-density barrage platform capable of executing the destructive "Full Open Attack" by opening all weapon hatches simultaneously. Its main armaments consist of two twin-barreled Double Gatling Guns mounted on both arms, which can be stored on latch mounts when not in use. Additional weapons include four hidden chest gatling guns, two head-mounted vulcans, and two shoulder machine cannons. For explosive ordinance, it carries 44 homing missiles split between its legs and front skirt, alongside 52 micro-missiles housed within the shoulder armors and side skirts.
Background
Originating from the Operation Meteor invasion, the unit was left on Earth by Trowa Barton before being retrieved and transported to the battleship Peacemillion. There, Howard upgraded its thrusters for space mobility and doubled its primary firepower, transforming it into the modified Heavyarms Kai. Trowa resumed piloting the machine upon regaining his memories, using it to fight through the Eve Wars at the end of After Colony 195. Following the conflict, the mobile suit was slated for decommission and storage alongside its fellow Gundam units.
Relationships
The suit's primary pilot is Trowa Barton. Its space-use overhaul was executed by the engineer Mike Howard aboard the Peacemillion. It fought alongside the parallel Gundam units piloted by Heero Yuy, Quatre Raberba Winner, Duo Maxwell, and Chang Wufei during the final battles of the war.
Trivia
While the visual design differs sharply between the TV series and the Endless Waltz OVA, in-universe lore treats them as the same physical machine. The name "Gundam Heavyarms Custom" originated from the branding of the 1/100 scale model kits released during the OVA's broadcast. Across video game appearances, it is consistently portrayed as an absolute ranged-specialist unit featuring elaborate landing-cancel maneuvers and multi-hit projectile attacks.
