Geara Doga
The AMS-119 Geara Doga is the flagship mass-production general-purpose mobile suit operated by Neo Zeon forces in *Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack* and related Universal Century titles. Inheriting the design philosophy of the legendary Zaku line, it strikes an exceptional balance between high versatility, solid reliability, and ease of maintenance. Manufactured by Anaheim Electronics at their Granada facility, it served as the core combat element of Neo Zeon during the Second Neo Zeon War, holding its ground against the Earth Federation's RGM-89 Jegan.
Overview
The AMS-119 Geara Doga is the flagship mass-production general-purpose mobile suit operated by Neo Zeon forces in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack and related Universal Century titles.
Appearance
The Geara Doga stands at an overall and head height of 20.0 meters, with an unladen weight of 23.0 metric tons and a gross fully equipped weight of 50.8 tons. Its protective shell is constructed from titanium alloy ceramic composite. The head features a single mono-eye sensor, while commander variants are equipped with a central head blade antenna or a box-type communications module. Visually defined by spiked shoulder armor on one side and a dedicated shield on the other, the suit's standard color is military green, though personalized variants appear in blue, red-and-pink, purple, and white.
Abilities
Driven by a 2,160 kW generator output, the Geara Doga achieves 54,000 kg of combined thrust and a sensor range of 16,400 meters. Its standard beam machine gun toggles between rapid-fire beam pellets and high-penetration rifle shots via pump-action, with an optional sub-barrel grenade launcher. For close combat, it utilizes a versatile beam sword-axe capable of switching between sword, axe, and pick configurations. Mounted behind its shield are four compact Sturm Faust rocket launchers and two twin grenade launchers. Additional tactical options include a left-arm-mounted electromagnetic wire and a minelayer backpack capable of deploying 14 space mines.
Background
Developed from Marasai testframes provided to Axis, the machine incorporated design technicalities from the Zaku III Late Type. Created as a deliberate return to fundamental mobile suit design principles after the overly complex and costly designs of the First Neo Zeon War, it prioritized high operational utility and field maintainability. Produced at Granada, over 82 units fought in the Second Neo Zeon War under Char Aznable. Following the war, surviving units were upgraded with decorative arm and chest markings by the "Sleeves" remnant forces, remaining active as late as the U.C. 0120s.
Relationships
Serving as the backbone of Char Aznable's Neo Zeon military, the suit was operated by key pilots including Rezin Schnyder, Vincent Gleissner, Full Frontal, and Angelo Sauper in custom command or experimental configurations. On the battlefield, its primary adversary was the Earth Federation's standard-issue RGM-89 Jegan. Architecturally, the platform served as the base for newtype test machines like the Jagd Doga, and directly evolved into successor models such as the AMS-129 Geara Zulu and the Me02R Messer.
Trivia
The suit's standard-issue beam machine gun uses standardized Anaheim Electronics interfaces, allowing the ν Gundam to seize and fire one without modification during combat. Due to its solid baseline frame, numerous tactical variants were created, including the Heavy Weapon Type, Desert Doga, Marine Doga, Welter Doga, and the field-customized Panzer Doga. Additionally, a customized Gunpla model designated Geara Doga [C] appears in Gundam Build Fighters Try.
