Master Asia

Overview

Master Asia, also known as the Undefeated of the East and Shuuji Kurosu, is a central character in Mobile Fighter G Gundam and its side stories. He is the founder of the School of the Undefeated of the East martial arts style and the winner of the 12th Gundam Fight. A former member of the Shuffle Alliance who held the title of King of Hearts, he passed his crest to his student, Domon Kasshu. Driven to despair by the severe environmental damage caused to Earth by the Gundam Fights, he aligns himself with the Devil Gundam to eradicate humanity, serving as Domon's master and ultimate rival.

Appearance

Master Asia features dark hair mixed with grey, tied into a long single braid at the back, accompanied by yellow eyes and facial hair including a mustache. He wears traditional Chinese martial arts attire consisting of long sleeves and a sash wrapped around his waist. He carries a long cloth sash, the Master Cloth, which he uses both as part of his outfit and as a deadly physical weapon in combat.

Personality

In daily life, Master Asia displays a calm, polite demeanor and possesses a refined appreciation for poetry and the arts. However, in battle, he becomes ruthless and uncompromisingly stern. His deep sorrow over Earth's ecological destruction leads him to harbor an extreme conviction that humanity must be eliminated to heal the planet. Though harsh and relentless toward Domon Kasshu, his actions are driven by a complex desire to push his favorite disciple to transcend him.

Abilities

Master Asia possesses superhuman martial prowess, capable of destroying Mobile Suits with his bare hands or a simple cloth, catching flying bullets, and leaping extreme distances. He is the master of the School of the Undefeated of the East, capable of executing devastating techniques such as the Sekiha Tenkyoken without a machine. As a pilot, he operates the Kowloon Gundam and later the Master Gundam, often riding into battle alongside his martial arts horse, Fuunsaiki.

Background

After succeeding his predecessor as the leader of his martial arts lineage, Master Asia joined the Shuffle Alliance and won the 12th Gundam Fight to avert a global crisis. Horrified by the environmental havoc wrought by the tournament, he abandoned his title. Suffering from a terminal illness, he encountered the fallen Devil Gundam and resolved to use it to purge humanity. During the 13th Gundam Fight, he engineered tests to forge Domon Kasshu into the ultimate force, ultimately perishing in Domon's arms on Lantau Island after admitting his own errors.

Relationships

He serves as the teacher and final wall for his beloved apprentice, Domon Kasshu, to whom he passed the King of Hearts crest. He was formerly allied with the members of the original Shuffle Alliance before walking away from them. He engages in a temporary alliance of convenience with Wong Yunfat during the Neohong Kong tournament. He also shares a tight bond with his mount, the robotic horse Fuunsaiki.

Trivia

Unlike many antagonists in his series, Master Asia was completely uninfected by DG cells, pursuing his plot entirely of his own free will despite his failing health. His feats of destroying mecha on foot became iconic symbols of the energetic tone of his home series. His character song was composed in the traditional Japanese enka style, which became a memorable highlight for his voice actor, Yosuke Akimoto.
