Overview

A character from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. As a third-year student in the Pilot Course at Asticassia School of Technology, he leads Peil House and serves on the Duel Committee. Backed by Peil Technologies, one of the major entities within the Benerit Group, the identity of Elan Ceres is shared between the company's true heir and surgically modified body doubles known as Enhanced Persons who are deployed to handle mobile suit piloting duties.

Appearance

He has pale skin, green eyes, and light green hair in a mushroom cut featuring long sidelocks and bangs hanging between his eyes. He wears the Asticassia school uniform with long sleeves, a white ascot, and three-quarter length socks. Accessories distinguish each iteration: Enhanced Person Number 4 wears tassel earrings, Enhanced Person Number 5 wears diamond-shaped earrings, epaulettes, and a distinct scarf, while the original Elan Ceres wears a formal suit without earrings.

Personality

Enhanced Person Number 4 is unsociable and distant, earning the moniker Ice Prince while quietly enduring a deep sense of loneliness due to his tragic circumstance. Enhanced Person Number 5 adopts a superficial, flirtatious demeanor with a bright smile, hiding a cynical edge and acute awareness of his disposable status. The original Elan Ceres is haughty, self-centered, and condescending toward everyone around him.

Abilities

Ranked at the top of individual duel odds, he is a highly skilled pilot capable of precise tactical thinking and fast reaction times, maintaining composure even in one-against-many combat. The body doubles have undergone physical modifications to withstand the lethal data storms associated with the GUND Format. He demonstrates expertise while operating mobile suits such as the Zowort, Gundam Pharact, and Gundam Lfrith Ur.

Background

To avoid the hazards of GUND-ARM testing during academy duels, Peil Technologies utilized face-grafted Enhanced Persons to represent Elan Ceres. Enhanced Person Number 4 served as the primary student pilot until his disposal following a loss to Suletta Mercury. He was subsequently replaced by Enhanced Person Number 5, who navigated shifting corporate conflicts and war before ultimately seeking his own path.

Relationships

Enhanced Person Number 4 initially reached out to Suletta Mercury expecting to find someone in a similar plight, whereas Enhanced Person Number 5 approached her with flirtatious intent. Number 5 later developed a deep understanding with Norea Duoc while both were detained. Peil Technologies executives and Belmeria Winston treat the modified doubles purely as instruments for testing mobile suits and securing win records.

Trivia

His first name Elan is derived from the French word for leap or momentum, while Ceres references the astronomical dwarf planet. Original designer Mogumo created his visual concept around the theme of a doll-like, ethereal prince. In the narrative, Miorine Rembran calls him the Mannequin Prince, and the total lack of books in Number 4's bedroom contrasts with his earlier reading habits to emphasize his constructed persona.
