Overview

The LM111E02 Gun-EZ is a general-purpose mass-produced mobile suit featured in the anime series Mobile Suit Victory Gundam. Developed by the resistance organization League Militaire as part of its V Project, it serves as the frontline workhorse designed to stand on equal footing against the advanced mobile suits of the Zanscare Empire. Piloted primarily by the all-female Shrike Team as well as allied Earth Federation forces, the unit provides high versatility and performance. In the later stages of the war, most units were upgraded into the high-mobility Gun Blaster configuration for space combat.

Appearance

The Gun-EZ features a monochrome color scheme consisting of khaki green and navy blue upon standard deployment, whereas its prototype units retained the unpainted white surface of the Gandarium alloy. Its head design closely resembles that of a Gundam-type mobile suit. Visually, it includes specialized weapon pods on its shoulders—a beam saber storage unit on the right shoulder and a twin multi-launcher on the left. Covered hardpoints are integrated into the forearms, side skirts, and outer thighs for mounting optional equipment.

Abilities

Powered by the same high-output generator as the V Gundam, the Gun-EZ offers mobility and firepower superior to contemporary Earth Federation mobile suits. It omits complex transformation systems and Minovsky Flight units, relying on the Setter Support Fire System for extended atmospheric travel. Its fixed weaponry includes head-mounted vulcan cannons, a shoulder-stored beam saber, and a twin multi-launcher firing high-explosive grenades. The forearm-mounted beam shield can expand up to 200 meters to protect naval vessels. Its beam rifle features a modular assembly, allowing the core beam pistol to operate independently if the barrel is damaged.

Background

Developed with input from former Sanary engineers, the machine had its model number designated as LM111E02 to disguise development data against Zanscare intelligence. Two prototypes were initially produced, with the first unit refurbished for battle and assigned to Junko Jenko of the Shrike Team. While deployed to resistance members and allied Federation troops, several units were abandoned and captured by Zanscare forces early in the conflict, though Zanscare chose not to reverse-engineer them. As the conflict moved into space, most machines were retrofitted with the Twin Tail high-mobility backpack to become the Gun Blaster. Following the war, surviving units entered civilian defense sectors and local garrisons.

Relationships

The Gun-EZ served as the mainstay mobile suit for the League Militaire, famously piloted by members of the Shrike Team such as Junko Jenko, along with commanders like Oliver Inoe and Marbet Fingerhut. It shares technical design, power plants, and interchangeable armaments with the LM31204 V Gundam, while also maintaining partial component compatibility with Earth Federation mobile suits like the Jamesgun and Javelin. During the conflict, multiple units fell into the hands of the enemy Zanscare Empire, where individuals such as Catejina Loos operated captured machines for specific operations.

Trivia

The beam rifle of the Gun-EZ uses a distinctive firing sound effect famously recycled from the linear cannon sound in Fang of the Sun Dougram. In episode 20 of Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, enemy forces misidentified a squad of Gun-EZ units as multiple Gundam-type mobile suits due to their twin-eyed facial aesthetics. In plastic model kits, it received a 1/144 release during the original broadcast and a modern RE/100 release in 2018. It also appears across various gaming franchises, including Super Robot Wars α, SD Gundam G Generation, and the Gundam VS series.
