Marasai
The RMS-108 Marasai is a general-purpose mass-production mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and the broader Gundam franchise. Developed by Anaheim Electronics, it served as a frontline unit for the Earth Federation's elite Titans faction during the Gryps War. Characterized by its Zeon-style mono-eye head design and high overall combat capabilities, the machine remained in active service across multiple factions—including Neo Zeon and Earth-based Zeon remnants—long after the collapse of the Titans.
Overview
The RMS-108 Marasai is a general-purpose mass-production mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and the broader Gundam franchise. Developed by Anaheim Electronics, it served as a frontline unit for the Earth Federation's elite Titans faction during the Gryps War. Characterized by its Zeon-style mono-eye head design and high overall combat capabilities, the machine remained in active service across multiple factions—including Neo Zeon and Earth-based Zeon remnants—long after the collapse of the Titans.
Appearance
The Marasai incorporates a Zeon-style mono-eye sensor set within its head frame. Its standard paint scheme is predominantly orange and red, though specialized operational units appear in alternative colorings such as green and gray, deep navy blue, dark green, or solid red. It features an asymmetrical shoulder layout with a flexible shield mounted on the right shoulder and a spiked armor plate on the left. The unit stands at an overall height of 20.5 meters, with a head height of 17.5 meters.
Abilities
Equipped with Gundarium gamma alloy armor and an internal movable frame, the Marasai resolves the power distribution issues of the Hizack, enabling concurrent use of multiple beam armaments. Its 1,790 kW output generator fuels main thrusters generating 74,600 kg of total force, while leg-mounted sub-thrusters afford hover mobility across lunar and terrestrial terrain. Fixed weapons include two 60mm head Vulcans, beam sabers, and shield-stored E-pacs, complemented by handheld weapons such as the BR-87A beam rifle, long-range Fedayeen rifle, and wire-guided Sea Serpent.
Background
The suit was originally created by Anaheim Electronics for the AEUG under the project codename Domingo and designation MSA-002. When the Titans suspected Anaheim's involvement in the Gundam Mk-II theft, the company transferred the manufactured machines to the Titans free of charge to divert political pressure, leading to its adoption under model number RMS-108. After fighting in Gryps War engagements such as the defense of Jaburo, surviving units were captured and fielded by Neo Zeon, the Sleeves, and various Zeon remnants through later conflicts including the assault on Torrington Base. Its underlying design principles were subsequently inherited by the AMS-119 Geara Doga.
Relationships
Manufactured by Anaheim Electronics, the Marasai was delivered to the Titans organization overseen by Jamitov Hyman and Basque Om. It was piloted in action by key Titans figures including Jerid Messa, Kacricon Cacooler, Yazan Gable, Sarah Zabiarov, and Sherry Page. On the battlefield, Marasai units frequently engaged AEUG pilot Kamille Bidan while operating the Gundam Mk-II. As a result of the machine's transfer to the Titans, the AEUG received the MSA-003 Nemo as its alternative standard mass-production suit.
Trivia
The in-universe lore of an AEUG design being handed over to the enemy mirrors an actual production change: the suit was originally conceived as an AEUG mass-production unit, but transferred to the Titans to preserve a clear visual distinction between friendly GM-type faces and opposing mono-eye units. The initial development code Domingo was renamed to avoid overlap with a real-world automobile. Its vibrant orange and red palette was chosen because the animation studio had a surplus of red paint at the time. Additionally, a customized Marasai model built for a hobby magazine served as the modeling debut of creature designer Yasushi Nirasawa.
