Appearance
Standing 18.88 meters tall and weighing 80.09 metric tons, the Strike Freedom Gundam closely resembles the original Freedom Gundam in silhouette. Its forehead is inscribed with its model number and the word VENTI. To achieve human-like articulation, the outer armor is heavily segmented, exposing a large portion of the internal frame. The joints and frame are composed of Phase Shift armor material, which takes on a dull gold color normally and glows brilliant gold when radiating excess power at maximum output. Its back features prominent main thrusters alongside large wing binders that hold the Super DRAGOON units.
Abilities
Powered by a Hyper-Deuterion Engine, the unit delivers vastly superior power output compared to its predecessor. Its intricate armor segmentation and Phase Shift frame grant exceptional mobility and reaction speed, though the exposed frame design demands supreme piloting skill to avoid taking hits. Its armament includes waist-mounted railguns, an abdominal beam cannon, twin high-energy beam rifles capable of combining, beam sabers, and beam shields on both forearms. The wing units house Super DRAGOON remote weapons paired with an advanced propulsion system, allowing for High-MAT mode and coordinated multi-target fire in Full Burst mode.
Background
The machine originated as a prototype under development by ZAFT, but progress stalled due to delays in perfecting its propulsion and remote weapon control interface, leading to its seal under the Junius Treaty. The data and prototype were subsequently acquired by the Clyne Faction within Terminal, who extensively modified the unit at The Factory specifically for Kira Yamato. Sortieing into battle late in the conflict, the unit demonstrated performance that dominated the battlefield under Kira's exceptional piloting, establishing itself as one of the definitive mobile suits of Cosmic Era 73.
Relationships
The suit is exclusively piloted by Kira Yamato, with its control systems tailored specifically to suit his spatial awareness and piloting skill. The name Strike Freedom is said to have been chosen by Lacus Clyne in honor of the previous units that protected Kira in past battles. In combat, it routinely deploys alongside the Infinite Justice Gundam, piloted by Athrun Zala, to resolve conflict zones.
