Saji is a young man with short brown hair and brown eyes. Over time, his physical stature matures, growing from a height of 168 cm and weight of 50 kg in his youth to 178 cm and 60 kg in adulthood. By the time of the theatrical film, the ends of his hair feature a slight wave.
Personality
Saji possesses a gentle, mild-mannered, and peace-loving temperament. Early on, his passive side was highlighted by how easily he was pushed around by his headstrong girlfriend. However, experiencing tragic losses fills him with deep grief and resentment toward armed interventions. He holds a strong sense of responsibility, feeling immense remorse when his mistakes affect others. Refusing to resort to lethal violence, he grows into a determined individual who firmly believes that mutual understanding is the true path to peace.
Abilities
Saji is a skilled technician educated in aerospace engineering, capable of handling maintenance work on space colonies and orbital elevators as well as assisting with mechanical support. Although he lacks military combat training, he serves as the pilot of the support craft 0 Raiser, facilitating its docking with the 00 Raiser and operating onboard armaments such as GN Micro Missiles when required.
Background
Living an ordinary life as a student and part-time delivery worker in Tokyo, Saji's world is shattered when a Gundam attack injures his girlfriend Louise Halevy and his journalist sister Kinue is murdered. After fulfilling his dream of becoming a space engineer, he is falsely accused of aiding anti-Federation dissidents and detained. Rescued by Setsuna, he ends up aboard Ptolemaios 2. Upon learning that Louise has joined the enemy forces of A-LAWS, he chooses to board the 0 Raiser to reach out to her on the battlefield.
Relationships
He shares a profound bond with his girlfriend Louise Halevy, supporting her through trauma, tragedy, and ideological misunderstandings. Though initially shocked and resentful upon discovering that his former neighbor Setsuna F. Seiei was a Gundam Meister, Saji gradually forms a strong partnership with him. He also builds connections with Celestial Being members including Tieria Erde, Ian, and Allelujah Haptism.

When watching an in-universe propaganda movie depicting Celestial Being, Saji dismisses it with contempt for overly romanticizing war and the organization.
