Overview
Master Gundam is a Mobile Fighter from the anime series Mobile Fighter G Gundam, designated as GF13-001NHII representing Neo Hong Kong. Piloted by the martial arts master Master Asia, the Undefeated of the East, it serves as the leader of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Devil Gundam. Originally hidden beneath the armor of the Kowloon Gundam, it sheds its outer shell to reveal its true form through the power of DG Cells, standing as the ultimate rival to its pilot's disciple, Domon Kasshu.
Appearance
Master Gundam features a pitch-black armored body with two prominent head horns and green twin eyes. On its back are Wing Shields that function in two distinct states: Normal Mode, where they fold forward like a protective cape around the body, and Attack Mode, where they retract behind the mecha into a winged configuration. The right wing bears the mark for break, while the left is marked with supremacy, alongside additional characters along the front edges. The lower arms are designed to extend or detach for launching attacks.
Personality
As a machine, the Master Gundam has no independent personality, but it strictly reflects the unyielding spirit and martial discipline of its pilot, Master Asia. Although constructed with organic DG Cells, the pilot's powerful willpower prevents the tissue from mutating or acting on its own, limiting the cell activity to absolute obedience and rapid repairs that directly correlate with the pilot's physical and mental state.
Abilities
The machine carries ten small-caliber beam cannons embedded in its palms and can generate the flexible, cloth-like beam weapon known as the Master Cloth from its cuffs. For physical attacks, its forearms can extend via Near Crusher or launch using a beam wire connection via Distant Crusher. Its specialized technique arsenal includes the devastating Darkness Finger, the spinning charge technique Choukyuu Haou Den'eidan, the deadly flying knee strike Suibu Saigenkouko Deadly Wave, the energy-clone creating Juuni Ouhou Pai Daishei, and the ultimate energy blast Sekiha Tenkyoken. It also possesses rapid self-repair powers powered by DG Cells.
Background
Appearing during the 13th Gundam Fight, the machine revealed its true form after shedding the outer shell of the Kowloon Gundam through DG Cell mutation. It functioned as the primary champion of the Devil Gundam's forces, repeatedly confronting Domon Kasshu's Shining Gundam and God Gundam. In the finals of the tournament, it engaged in a climactic duel against the God Gundam in Hyper Mode, ultimately sustaining heavy destruction before its remains were destroyed.
Relationships
It is piloted by Master Asia and stands as the primary adversary to Domon Kasshu, who pilots the Shining Gundam and later the God Gundam. Within Neo Hong Kong's political web, its presence is tied to Prime Minister Wong Yunfat, who manipulates its actions for the Devil Gundam's revival. It acts as the leader among the Devil Gundam's Four Heavenly Kings mecha and is occasionally seen mounted atop Fuunsaiki, a mobile fighter suited for equestrian combat.
Trivia
Designed by Hajime Katoki, the visual aesthetics of the suit were created with homage to the Griffon from Mobile Police Patlabor. The mecha is frequently featured across crossover games such as the Super Robot Wars and Gundam VS. series, where it is consistently portrayed as a specialized close-combat unit capable of inflicting massive damage.
