Overview

Four Murasame is a character appearing in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and related works. Serving as a Cyber-Newtype developed by the Earth Federation's Murasame Research Institute, she acts as a mobile suit pilot assigned to the Titans, operating the massive Psyco Gundam. Stripped of her past memories, she is driven by a deep desire to reclaim her lost identity while being pushed into military conflict.

Appearance

Four features short aqua-blue hair and green eyes. Her attire includes outfits with short sleeves layered over long sleeves, a wide-sleeved dress or robe-like garment, a brown shirt, a long brown skirt, and clothing with an open collar that exposes her collarbone.

Personality

Although she initially appears cool and refined, Four possesses a talkative and playful side. However, the loss of her memories leaves her emotionally unstable, causing her to react with intense anger when addressed by her test subject designation. Despite her inner turmoil and occasional rebellious outbursts, she exhibits a gentle nature toward young children.

Abilities

As a Cyber-Newtype who underwent physical and mental conditioning at the Murasame Institute, Four exhibits exceptional piloting capabilities powered by induced Newtype aptitudes. She effectively operates the massive transforming Psyco Gundam in battle. In certain video game adaptations, her enhanced status can awaken into genuine Newtype skills.

Background

Orphaned during the One Year War, she lived near a major metropolis before being taken in by the Murasame Institute, where she was assigned the name Four as the fourth test subject while her real memories were erased. Promised the restoration of her past in exchange for combat service, she deployed against AEUG forces and encountered Kamille Bidan in New Hong Kong. Despite being on opposing sides, they formed a connection, and she helped him return to space. Later, during the battle at Mount Kilimanjaro, she stepped in to shield Kamille from an attack, losing her life in the process. Her spirit subsequently returned to aid him in critical battles.

Relationships

She shares a profound emotional connection with Kamille Bidan, as both find mutual understanding and comfort despite being combatants on opposite sides of the conflict. Her designation as Four was originally assigned to her by Namicar Cornell of the Murasame Institute.

Trivia

Her archetype as a tragic, memory-impaired Cyber-Newtype heroine left a lasting influence on subsequent mecha anime character designs. Due to her enduring popularity, she frequently appears in alternative storyline scenarios across tactical and action video games, where players can prevent her canonical fate.
