Overview

The RMS-106 Hizack is a mass-produced general-purpose mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and related works. Co-developed by the Earth Federation and Anaheim Electronics, it serves as a direct descendant of the iconic Zeon MS-06 Zaku II. Built as a primary mass-production machine following the Delaz Conflict, it was heavily deployed by both the regular Earth Federation Forces and the Titans. Known for its high reliability and user-friendly handling, it was piloted by key figures such as Jerid Messa, Sarah Zabiarov, and Kacricon Cacooler.

Appearance

Designed around the signature silhouette of the Zaku II, the Hizack features a single pink mono-eye sensor, exposed power pipes running along the head and torso, a fixed shield mounted on the right shoulder, and a spiked shoulder armor on the left. Its default Titans color scheme adopts a vibrant green finish reminiscent of traditional Zeon suits, whereas the regular Earth Federation Forces variant is painted in a muted shade of blue. Other distinct paint schemes exist depending on the faction utilizing the unit.

Abilities

Constructed with titanium alloy ceramic composite armor, the Hizack achieves reduced weight and high mobility. It is notably among the earliest mass-production units equipped with a 360-degree panoramic monitor and linear seat cockpit system. Its backpack connection utilizes the modular Transpack System, allowing seamless switching between mid-range support, high-thrust, or reconnaissance equipment. Although armed with a standard choice between a heat hawk and a beam saber, internal power output limitations prevent it from simultaneously powering a beam rifle and a beam saber. Its versatile armament loadout includes a modified Zaku machine gun, an E-pack beam rifle, a GM rifle, 3-tube missile pods, and a high-output long-range mega launcher requiring a coordinated two-unit power supply setup.

Background

Following the One Year War, the Earth Federation faced economic strain along with persistent threats from Zeon remnant groups. To bolster its forces efficiently, the Federation collaborated with Anaheim Electronics to produce a new mass-production unit utilizing repurposed Zeon manufacturing lines. Based heavily on the Zaku II, the Hizack was widely deployed as a frontline standard for both the Federation and the Titans. Throughout the Gryps Conflict, it served as a reliable workhorse, though its power constraints eventually led to its replacement by newer machines like the Marasai. After the war, surplus and captured units continued to see active service across various factions, including the Republic of Zeon and independent regional security forces.

Relationships

The machine was operated by notable Titans pilot Jerid Messa, alongside Kacricon Cacooler, Sarah Zabiarov, Mauer Pharaoh, and Bernard Monsha. In terms of development, it was produced through a collaboration between Anaheim Electronics and the Earth Federation Forces. It directly influenced or yielded variants such as the Hizack Custom, EWAC Zack, and the higher-tier Marasai.

Trivia

Official technical data lists its head height at 18.0 meters and its base weight at 38.7 metric tons. Model kits and reference books have offered different technical explanations over the years regarding its power constraint—such as weapon weight ratios or spatial limitations caused by oversized pulse converters. Expanded lore works like ADVANCE OF Z heavily feature the unit's modular Transpack System through unique field modifications and customized variants.
