Designed with an appearance evoking the legendary Gundam of past eras, it serves as a public symbol of resistance against tyranny. Primarily piloted by the young prodigy Uso Ewin, the machine functions not only as a protagonist unit but also as a high-performance semi-mass-production mobile suit utilized by multiple pilots.

Appearance

The V Gundam features a traditional Gundam-style head with a prominent V-fin. Its structure divides into three modules: the Core Fighter, Top Rim, and Bottom Rim. The Core Fighter possesses unusually small main wings, with its canopy serving as the primary cockpit monitor upon docking. The arms integrate elbow-mounted beam shield generators, while the streamlined legs deploy supplementary thrusters from the knees and calves. Furthermore, the front waist armor folds horizontally into a flat cargo platform, and eight hardpoints are positioned across the airframe to attach option armaments.

Abilities

Equipped with a Minovsky Flight system, the unit achieves exceptional atmospheric flight while leaving both arms free for combat. Its modular Core Block System enables mid-battle separation and docking, backed by a secondary ejection pod for pilot safety. Pilots can utilize unorthodox tactics, including remote-controlled maneuvers via Minovsky Control and launching the Bottom Rim as a kinetic strike known as the Bottom Attack. Armaments comprise two 25mm head vulcans, a beam rifle that detaches into a beam pistol, forearm-stored beam sabers, elbow beam shields, and an optional mega beam rifle. Its learning computer constantly updates movement data and auto-defenser routines across units.

Background

In Space Century 0153, as the Earth Federation's military grew ineffective against the Zanscare Empire's force known as Vespa, the underground resistance group League Militaire developed the V Gundam under its V Project. The suit saw its first combat deployment near Kasarelia, forced into an immediate battlefield assembly during a sudden enemy raid. While the Core Fighter required specialized lunar production facilities, the arm and leg components were engineered with simplified designs suitable for mass production in local civilian factories. This modular supply chain allowed pilots to swap damaged limbs seamlessly mid-combat. Operated primarily by Uso Ewin, the V Gundam achieved extraordinary military success and remained in active service even after the introduction of its successor, the V2 Gundam.

Relationships

The primary operator of the suit is the young prodigy Uso Ewin, whose creative combat ideas and programming skill elevated the machine's battlefield performance. Other notable League Militaire pilots who boarded the unit include Marbet Fingerhat, Oliver Inoe, Yuka Mylas of the Shrike Team, and Odelo Henrik. On the enemy side, Zanscare Empire commanders and pilots such as Cronicle Asher and Godwald Hein initially dismissed the machine as a counterfeit Gundam, yet quickly came to recognize its maneuverability, pilot-friendly control interface, and unpredictable tactical adaptability.

Trivia

The model number LM312V04 breaks down systematically: LM stands for League Militaire, 3 indicates the number of detachable parts, 1 for the number of generators, 2 for the main thrusters, V for the project type, and 04 for the development code. Following the rollout of the advanced V2 Gundam, League Militaire personnel designated the original unit as the "V1" to avoid confusion. Across various side stories and model kits, the suit possesses multiple equipment configurations and spin-off variants, including the V-Dash Gundam, V Gundam Hexa, Second V, and Amethyst V Gundam.
