Overview
Elpeo Puru is a character from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. A young Newtype trained under the Neo Zeon forces, she forms a deep emotional attachment to the protagonist Judau Ashta and ultimately joins his side on the Argama.
Appearance
She is a petite young girl with short orange hair and blue or purple eyes. Her attire includes a crop top, a yellow shirt, a jacket, a skirt, and various jewelry items. She operates a specially colored purple Qubeley Mk-II.
Personality
She is bright and cheerful, yet shows emotional instability and strong possessiveness due to her artificial enhancement. She has a extreme passion for taking baths, believing it helps her think, and frequently utters a distinct sound like 'puru puru'.
Abilities
She possesses remarkable Newtype capabilities and enhanced combat faculties, allowing her to pilot mobile suits effectively. Beyond her customized Qubeley Mk-II, she has piloted the Gundam Mk-II, Mega Rider, and Base Jabber, and has operated the Zeta Gundam and Double Zeta Gundam. She can also sense psychomu waves across long distances.
Background
Raised by Glemy Toto as an artificially cultured Newtype soldier, she was initially programmed to view Glemy as her brother. Upon meeting Judau Ashta, she shifted her affection toward him and defected to the AEUG's vessel Argama. During a fierce encounter with her clone, Puru Two, she gave her life to protect Judau, though her spirit continued to watch over him afterward.
Relationships
She attaches herself closely to Judau Ashta as an elder brother figure. She initially felt jealous of Judau's actual sister, Leina Ashta, but later felt responsible for her safety. She was created and controlled under Glemy Toto. Puru Two is her clone clone and adversary in combat, while Marida Cruz is a subsequent clone derived from the same genetic line.
Trivia
Her name is widely speculated to originate from the 1980s magazine Lemon People (abbreviated LP). She is often credited with shaping the 'little sister' archetype in Japanese pop culture. In the Super Robot Wars crossover game series, she frequently survives the events of her original narrative and remains a playable party member.
