Overview
Rouji Chante is a fictional character in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. A first-year mechanics student at the Asticassia School of Technology, he belongs to Burion House and serves on the Dueling Committee. With deep expertise in mobile craft and machinery, he primarily acts as an analytical commentator who evaluates mobile suit specs and battle tactics during duels.
Appearance
Rouji has short blue hair, blue eyes, and dark skin. He wears the Asticassia School of Technology uniform, which features a green jacket with shoulder boards, green shorts, and white thigh-high socks. He is constantly seen carrying a custom green Haro that he modified himself. When seated, he habitually pulls his knees up to his chest in a huddled posture.
Personality
Rouji is extremely quiet, highly reserved, and indifferent to matters outside his personal interest. Although diligent and precise in his analytical duties, his focus on resolving issues can sometimes turn into a self-righteous disregard for others' feelings. He is extremely shy around unfamiliar people, often hiding his face when expressed gratitude. Once comfortable with someone, however, he reveals a blunt, sarcastic side.
Abilities
He possesses extensive knowledge of machinery and mobile craft. He enhanced his Haro with recording and data-retrieval functions for analysis. He can instantly analyze complex mechanics, identifying GUND-ARM features, specialized equipment like Pharact and Aerial, and live-fire output alterations. In technical support roles, he handles suit adjustments, such as preparing the Demi Barding's manned cockpit, and operates ship support systems.
Background
As a first-year student in Burion House, Rouji served on the Dueling Committee, recording fight data and assessing mobile suit performance. During the turmoil at the academy, he assisted the Earth House by providing them with Burion's Demi Barding. Driven by curiosity regarding the massive Quiet Zero satellite, he joined their mission to lend technical aid aboard their vessel. Years later, he works in space construction and maintenance alongside familiar peers.
Relationships
He is constantly seen alongside his senior in Burion House and the Dueling Committee, Secelia Dote, addressing her informally without honorifics. He forms a supportive connection with Earth House members including Nika Nanaura and Martin Upmont, lending the Demi Barding to Chuatury 'Chuchu' Panlunch. Years later, he works alongside Chuatury, coolly bantering with her during field operations.
Trivia
The green Haro carried by Rouji is voiced by Miyu Tomita, who also voices Chuatury Panlunch in the same series. During official dueling procedures, Rouji occasionally lets his Haro handle announcements and formalities instead of speaking himself.
