Appearance
The Methuss features a yellow armor scheme with green eyes, a single camera lens design, and a V-fin antenna. Because it was adapted from a utility mobile suit, it lacks armor plating around its midsection, connecting its upper and lower torso using three exposed actuators. In mobile armor mode, it turns into an aerospace fighter, and it can adopt a mid-transformation state with its rear nose section covering its head for compact storage inside starships.
Abilities
Equipped with a simplified transformation system, the Methuss provides high acceleration and agility alongside easy piloting and maintenance. Its weaponry includes two forearm-mounted arm beam guns, two single grenade launchers on its forearms, and a total of six beam sabers housed in its legs. It can also utilize head vulcan guns, beam rifles, and beam-confusing curtain missiles, and excels at battlefield logistics such as supplying energy or munitions to friendly units.
Background
Built by Anaheim Electronics by integrating Gaza-C data into a utility frame design, the unit served to test variable frame mechanisms. After field testing, it was modified for combat and deployed to the Argama. Piloted by Reccoa Londe, Fa Yuiry, and Kats Kobayashi, Fa's unit remarkably survived the Gryps Conflict virtually unscathed. It continued to see action in the First Neo Zeon War providing battlefield support before being disabled and abandoned. Its efficient transformation concept directly influenced later mobile suits such as the Z-II and ReZEL.
Relationships
The suit was piloted at various times by Reccoa Londe, Fa Yuiry, Kats Kobayashi, and Torres. On the battlefield, it worked closely with allies, famously delivering replacement beam rifle power packs to Judau Ashta in the Zeta Gundam and providing power directly to the Hyaku Shiki's Mega Bazooka Launcher alongside Apolly.
Trivia
The name Methuss stems from the Japanese phrase for "multiple eyes" (me, tasu), a leftover from early concept phases when a multi-monoeye design later used for the Hambrabi was intended for this machine. In the Super Robot Wars video game series, it is widely recognized as a highly mobile flying repair unit.
