Overview
The Zock (MSM-10) is a prototype amphibious mobile suit developed by the Principality of Zeon in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. Built primarily as a heavy mobile artillery unit rather than a standard frontline combatant, it features an extraordinary, fully symmetrical body design and immense firepower. It was deployed during the invasion of Jaburo late in the One Year War.
Appearance
The Zock is defined by its massive, perfectly symmetrical front-and-back chassis paired with extremely short, stubby legs. Its head section features a star-shaped mono-eye track containing a yellow mono-eye camera. Four twin-barrel beam ports are mounted across its shoulders—facing both front and back—alongside a single cannon port situated at the top of its head. Each arm terminates in a pair of sharp Iron Nails.
Abilities
Powered by a generator producing 3,849 kW—four times the output of a Zaku II—the Zock boasts firepower rivaling an entire mobile suit company. Its weaponry includes eight shoulder-mounted mega particle cannons capable of sustained beam fire and a head-mounted phonon maser cannon. Because its immense weight prevents standard walking, it hovers across ground surfaces and employs high-powered thermonuclear jet thrusters for emergency jumps, while maintaining high hydrodynamic efficiency underwater using specialized thermal water-jets.
Background
Developed at the California Base, the Zock was engineered with an emphasis on underwater performance, resulting in its unique symmetrical structure. During the assault on Jaburo, Warrant Officer Boraskyniv piloted the second unit. Although he successfully discovered a hidden entrance to the Federation underground base, his unit was swiftly destroyed by the RX-78-2 Gundam while attempting to cover Char Aznable's retreat.
Relationships
The machine was principally piloted by Warrant Officer Boraskyniv under the Mad Angler team. Commander Char Aznable initially expressed strong skepticism regarding the practical utility of its unconventional design, though the Zock ultimately aided Char's escape during the fighting at Jaburo.
Trivia
Due to its perfectly symmetrical front and back geometry, the HGUC plastic model kit famously includes duplicate sets of identical runners. Among network gaming communities, such as in Mobile Suit Gundam Online, the unit's unique silhouette led players to affectionately nickname it the 'Goshintai' (object of worship).
