Overview

Anew Returner is a character in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season. Introduced to Celestial Being through Wang Liu-mei, she serves as the helmsman aboard the Ptolemy 2. She possesses deep expertise in astrophysics, mobile suit engineering, and regenerative therapy, alongside strong piloting capability and culinary skill. During her time with the crew, she enters a romantic relationship with Lyle Dylandy, which ultimately leads to central conflicts surrounding her true origins.

Appearance

Anew is a woman of young adult appearance, defined by her shoulder-length lavender hair and crimson eyes. She stands 170 centimeters tall and weighs 49 kilograms.

Personality

Anew is composed, highly educated, and observant. Initially watchful of her crewmates while attempting to identify security risks aboard the vessel, she gradually opens her heart to Lyle Dylandy upon learning of his background. Even after her alternate role is awakened, she retains genuine affection for him, creating deep internal anguish as she struggles between her imposed mission and her emotional bond.

Abilities

Anew exhibits exceptional technical talent across astrophysics, mobile suit engineering, and regenerative medicine, alongside high-level helmsman competencies. As an Innovade, she possesses quantum brainwave interaction capability. In combat, she pilots the dedicated mobile suit Gaddess, demonstrating formidable operational skills on the battlefield.

Background

Anew is brought onto the Ptolemy 2 as part of Celestial Being's support personnel, performing piloting and technical tasks. Unbeknownst to herself, she is an Innovade unit deployed for intelligence gathering. Upon receiving quantum brainwaves from Revive Revival, her programmed persona activates, causing her to extract critical technical data and defect to the Innovators, where she is deployed as a combat pilot against her former allies.

Relationships

She shares a mutual romantic connection with Lyle Dylandy, who serves as a pivotal emotional anchor for her. Revive Revival is her genetic counterpart, whose quantum brainwaves trigger her awakening. Ribbons Almark exercises absolute control over her consciousness through their network. Her placement within Celestial Being was originally arranged by Wang Liu-mei.

Trivia

Her dedicated mobile suit, the Gaddess, was specially requested for design by mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase due to his fandom for her voice actor. Because her connection to Veda was severed prior to her destruction, her consciousness data was not backed up, making her demise permanent within the mechanics of her species.
