Harry Ord

Overview

Harry Ord is a character from Turn A Gundam and its compilation films. Serving as the captain of Queen Dianna Soreil's Royal Guard for the Moonrace, he holds the rank of lieutenant and is later promoted to captain. He is an exceptionally skilled pilot who operates the gold-colored SUMO mobile suit. Positioned within the narrative as the story's masked figure, Harry is a rational tactician who maintains composure on the battlefield and remains utterly devoted to Queen Dianna.

Appearance

Harry is a man with short grey hair and blue eyes. His most recognizable feature is a pair of red sunglasses with a frame that wraps around to the back of his head, hidden beneath his hair. He is noted for his distinct personal wardrobe, which includes a yellow-and-black striped suit, a yellow-and-black checkered sweater paired with a pink shirt and bright red trousers, as well as blue-purple pajamas patterned with yellow stars.

Personality

Harry is a composed and gentlemanly individual who lacks the typical complexes or personal vendettas of masked figures. He treats women with diplomacy and values his comrades, acknowledging defecting scientists as valuable assets to the Moon. However, his sharp prioritization can sometimes border on callousness. He harbors immense loyalty to Queen Dianna Soreil, showing fierce rage whenever she is endangered.

Abilities

Harry is an extraordinary mobile suit pilot who operates the golden SUMO as well as the WaDom. His piloting skill is demonstrated when he engages seven enemy units single-handedly, neutralizing their weapons and control systems without taking any damage or taking the lives of the opposing pilots.

Background

Hailing from the lower social strata of the Moon, Harry previously served under Gim Ghingham and had a prior marriage to a woman named Amanda. As captain of the Royal Guard, he serves Queen Dianna during the return to Earth. When Dianna swaps places with the Earthling Kihel Heim, Harry manages to discern their true identities, remaining by Kihel's side to protect her as a romantic bond forms between them.

Relationships

Harry pledges absolute loyalty and reverence to Queen Dianna Soreil. He develops a deep romantic relationship with Kihel Heim after spending extensive time protecting her while she acts as Dianna's body double. In his past military career, he served under the command of Gim Ghingham.

Trivia

His signature red sunglasses function as a symbol of the Royal Guard and are difficult to acquire. Due to his striking black-and-yellow striped formal suit, production staff affectionately dubbed him the 'Hanshin Prince.' In Fukui Harutoshi's novel adaptation, his obsessive devotion to Dianna leads him down a dark path, resulting in a radically different tragic fate compared to the animated series.
