Overview

The RGZ-95 ReZEL (Refined Zeta Escort Leader) is a mass-produced transformable mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam UC. Fielded by the Earth Federation Space Forces, it represents the successful mass production of the variable mobile suit technology derived from the Zeta Gundam lineage. Serving as a high-performance variable unit, it is deployed aboard military vessels such as the Nahel Argama.

Appearance

Built on a transformable geometry, the suit features a head sensor visor colored red on standard production units and green on Commander Types. Its rear frame accommodates optional equipment packs such as the Defenser system, and in its transformed flight state, its upper hull presents structural surfaces and handholds designed to carry partner mobile suits.

Abilities

The unit incorporates a simplified transformation design adapted from the MSA-005 Methuss, allowing independent transformation without the need for the Back Weapon System used by the RGZ-91 Re-GZ. Integrating technology from the Z II and Zeta Plus alongside common parts shared with the RGM-89 Jegan, it balances high capabilities with lower production costs. Its primary beam rifle emulates that of the Zeta Gundam and can directly generate a beam saber blade from its muzzle. In its transformed flight configuration, it operates as a sub-flight system that can tow companion units like the Jegan to extend their operational range, and can also equip optional Defenser backpack modules.

Background

Developed under the Earth Federation's RGZ project to fulfill the goal of mass-producing the Zeta Gundam, the ReZEL resolved previous cost and maintenance issues through standardizing parts with existing machines and simplifying the transformation mechanism. As a result, it became the Earth Federation's first widely produced variable mobile suit. During the events of Mobile Suit Gundam UC, a complement of eight units—including Commander Types—was stationed aboard the assault ship Nahel Argama as part of the Londo Bell task force.

Relationships

Riddhe Marcenas serves as one of the prominent pilots assigned to operate the unit. Operational doctrine pairs the machine directly with the main-line RGM-89 Jegan, with the ReZEL acting as an escort leader and carrier platform to ferry Jegans into battle and provide tactical fire support.
