Overview

Julia Suga is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. She serves as a highly skilled young mechanic within the anti-Earth Federation organization Mafty. Stationed aboard the support ship Valiant, her primary responsibility is maintaining the Xi Gundam, the flagship mobile suit piloted by Hathaway Noa.

Appearance

Julia has long red or brown hair, red eyes, and often wears a baseball cap. Her outfit includes a white jumpsuit, a collared shirt, a blue hoodie, black gloves, and a necklace, alongside a Gundam normal suit design. While she works completely bare-chested in the novel due to the vessel's heat, the animated film adaptation alters her look to a highly revealing outfit.

Personality

Julia possesses a bold and rebellious personality, openly challenging traditional gender double standards regarding working unclothed in hot environments. Unbothered by reprimands from others, her free-spirited mindset aligns with counterculture and hippie values. Despite her blunt and headstrong nature, she is surprisingly empathetic toward the personal feelings and relationships of those around her.

Abilities

Despite her youth, Julia is an exceptionally skilled mechanic. Her high level of technical expertise earns her the critical task of performing maintenance on Mafty's key mobile suit, the Xi Gundam.

Background

As a member of Mafty aboard the Valiant, Julia provides crucial maintenance support for the group's operations. During a resupply mission at Binoe Harbor, the Valiant comes under attack by the Penelope and is sunk, leaving Julia's ultimate fate unknown after she goes missing in action.

Relationships

Julia works directly on the Xi Gundam for Mafty leader Hathaway Noa. She often clashes with her colleague Kellia Dace due to their contrasting temperaments, yet Julia shows genuine understanding regarding Kellia's personal affection for Hathaway.

Trivia

Her stance on social double standards and overall character concept are widely viewed as inspired by the youth counterculture and hippie movements, which challenged conservative societal norms.
