Tieria Erde

Overview

Tieria Erde is one of the central protagonists in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and a Gundam Meister operating under the private armed organization Celestial Being. Characterized by his striking, androgynous beauty, he acts as the dedicated pilot of heavily armored Mobile Suits dictated by the quantum supercomputer Veda. Although he initially maintains a cold and uncompromising adherence to mission protocols and Veda's calculations, Tieria gradually undergoes profound personal growth through his experiences alongside his fellow Meisters.

Appearance

Tieria possesses an exceptionally beautiful, androgynous physical appearance. He has medium-length purple hair styled in a bob cut and red eyes, which change their irises to a rainbow color pattern whenever he links directly with Veda. He regularly wears glasses and has also been depicted wearing high-society female attire, including a purple evening dress, during covert missions.

Personality

At the onset of his duties, Tieria exhibits a cold, highly disciplined, and perfectionist personality, treating Veda's calculations as absolute directives while harboring severe distrust toward comrades who breach protocol. However, after experiencing the self-sacrificing protection of Lockon Stratos, his rigid worldview unravels, revealing a vulnerable and profoundly empathetic interior. As he evolves, Tieria places intense value on his bonds with his comrades and demonstrates fierce determination in defending those he trusts.

Abilities

Tieria utilizes brain quantum waves to interface directly with the supercomputer Veda, while his physical aging is suppressed through genetic modifications and nanomachines. He is skilled in operating heavy assault Mobile Suits including Gundam Virtue, Seravee Gundam, and Raphael Gundam, and can deploy integrated sub-units like Gundam Nadleeh, Seraphim Gundam, and Seravee Gundam II via armor purging or remote quantum wave control. Additionally, he holds authorization to execute the Trial System to shut down Veda-linked machines, and he can transfer his consciousness into computer networks and mobile suit terminals to handle massive data loads.

Background

Entering Celestial Being without any recorded history, Tieria was created as an Innovade sharing identical genetic patterns with individuals such as Regene Regetta to execute Aeolia Schenberg's master plan. After sustaining severe injuries in the climax against the United Nations forces, he worked tirelessly toward rebuilding Celestial Being while re-evaluating his purpose. Upon confronting Ribbons Almark and refusing his vision for humanity, Tieria lost his physical form but successfully merged his mind with Veda, continuing to oversee the progress of humanity alongside Setsuna F. Seiei.

Relationships

Tieria shares a profound bond with Lockon Stratos (Neil Dylandy), whose life-saving sacrifice served as the primary catalyst for Tieria's emotional growth and newfound humanity. Though initially distant toward Setsuna F. Seiei and Allelujah Haptism, Tieria ultimately develops an unshakeable mutual trust with them as fellow Meisters. He maintains a complex connection with his genetic counterpart Regene Regetta and firmly opposes Ribbons Almark, rejecting Ribbons' distortion of Aeolia Schenberg's ultimate goals.
