Overview

Seabook Arno is the primary protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam F91 and a central figure in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam. Originally an engineering student residing on the Frontier IV colony, his peaceful life is interrupted by the Crossbone Vanguard invasion, thrusting him into combat as the pilot of the Gundam F91. Years later, following a disguised vessel incident in which he was officially presumed dead, he assumes the name Kincade Nau and pilots the Crossbone Gundam X-1 for the reformed Crossbone Vanguard against the Jupiter Empire. He is defined by his deep compassion and exceptional emotional resilience.

Appearance

Seabook has short blue hair with parted bangs tucked behind his ears, accompanied by green or blue eyes. He develops a visible scar on his face, and his right arm—lost in intense cockpit combat—is replaced with a functional mechanical prosthetic. During his era as a space pirate, his design also incorporates bandages wrapped around portions of his body.

Personality

Unlike many volatile Newtype protagonists, Seabook demonstrates remarkable mental strength, remaining rational and level-headed under pressure. He is deeply devoted to his family and friends, recovering swiftly from tragedy without losing his sense of purpose. He firmly respects human life and avoids unnecessary bloodshed. As Kincade Nau, he acts as a dependable, encouraging mentor figure to younger allies, and upon retiring from warfare, he deeply values a humble, peaceful everyday existence.

Abilities

Seabook is a highly capable Newtype pilot with exceptional spatial awareness and combat skills. On his debut launch in the Gundam F91, he destroyed three mobile suits. His profound resonance with the bio-computer allowed him to push the unit to its limit, generating afterimages with mass to defeat the mobile armor Rafflesia, as well as using his Newtype sensing to locate Cecily in space. While piloting the Crossbone Gundam X-1, he excelled in close combat and improvised ruses, even using a beam shield like a waverider to survive atmospheric entry after a deadly cockpit breach. Even after a 20-year retirement, he effortlessly handles the Crossbone Gundam X-0 against modern combat machinery.

Background

Living as a student on Frontier IV, Seabook's ordinary life ended in U.C. 0123 when the Crossbone Vanguard attacked, forcing him to flee to the Space Ark. He became the pilot of the Gundam F91 and fought through the Cosmo Babylonia Uprising. Officially declared dead after a U.C. 0128 ship attack engineered by the Jupiter Empire, he adopted the alias Kincade Nau and joined Cecily (now Berah Ronah) to pilot the Crossbone Gundam X-1. Following the conclusion of the Jupiter War, Seabook retired from battle, reclaimed his real name, and opened a local bakery on Earth to live peacefully with his family.

Relationships

Seabook is the son of Leslie Arno and Monica Arno, and the elder brother of Liz Arno. He shares an indomitable bond with his high school classmate and lover Cecily Fairchild (Berah Ronah), whom he ultimately marries. During his time as Kincade Nau, he acts as an elder brother and mentor to Tobia Arronax, eventually passing down his mobile suit. He engaged in fatal clashes with key antagonists including Carozzo Ronah (Iron Mask) and his former ally Zabine Chareux. Decades later, he also crosses paths with Font Baud, offering him vital life guidance.

Trivia

Seabook's distinctive battlefield exclamations from Mobile Suit Gundam F91 are fondly remembered within the fandom. His decision to leave warfare behind and operate a local shop called Donkey Bakery on Earth to support his family gives him one of the rare, undeniably happy endings enjoyed by a main protagonist in the Gundam franchise.
