Overview
Beecha Oleg is a supporting character in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. Originating as a young machinery scavenger in the Shangri-La colony of Side 1, he acts as the self-proclaimed leader of his local gang. After becoming involved with the AEUG crew, he steps up as a Mobile Suit pilot in the Gundam Team and eventually earns the position of acting captain aboard the Nahel Argama during the First Neo Zeon War.
Appearance
Beecha is characterized by his orange hair, which is worn long, and has visible freckles on his face.
Personality
Initially self-centered, timid, and quick to seek personal profit through irresponsible antics, Beecha often caused trouble for those around him. Beneath his bravado, however, he possesses a strong concern for his friends. As he endures the harsh realities of combat, he matures significantly, transforming into a dependable and responsible leader who looks out for his comrades.
Abilities
Starting with little pilot experience, Beecha acquired basic Mobile Suit operating skills over a short period. Although he lacked the exceptional high-tier skills required to master advanced machines like the Zeta Gundam or Double Zeta Gundam, he proved effective in support roles while piloting the Hyaku Shiki. Additionally, Bright Noa placed enough trust in him to appoint him acting captain of the Nahel Argama, where he successfully managed vessel operations in battle.
Background
Beecha grew up doing scrap gathering alongside Judau Ashta in the Shangri-La colony. When the Argama docked at the colony, he and Mondo Agake repeatedly schemed to steal the Zeta Gundam for profit, a ambition that eventually led them into dangerous situations and a brief defection to Neo Zeon. As the conflict intensified, he committed himself to the AEUG's Gundam Team. Entrusted with command of the Nahel Argama near the war's conclusion, he guided the ship through the final battles. Following the war, he saw off friends departing for Jupiter while promising to reunite in the future.
Relationships
Beecha shares a long-standing friendship with Judau Ashta, maintaining a rivalry that gradually settled into deep mutual trust. He harbored feelings for his childhood friend Elle Vianno for a long time, eventually winning her affection as he matured into a dependable leader. Mondo Agake serves as his constant partner-in-crime. Bright Noa recognized Beecha's potential by assigning him command of the Nahel Argama, where experienced crew members like Torres assisted him.
Trivia
In games such as the Super Robot Taisen series, Beecha is uniquely playable both as a mecha pilot and as a battleship commander. In the Gihren's Greed series, he serves as one of the few characters capable of being assigned to ships to bolster their durability. He also makes guest appearances in later manga side stories set in U.C. 0094 and U.C. 0096.
