Overview
GN-007 Arios Gundam is a 3.5th-generation transformable Mobile Suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Season 2. Developed by Celestial Being as the direct successor to the Gundam Kyrios, it is piloted by Gundam Meister Allelujah Haptism. Engineered for high-speed hit-and-run aerial tactics, the unit combines enhanced flight performance with expanded fixed armaments.
Appearance
Standing 19.1 meters tall with a total weight of 55.4 metric tons, the Arios Gundam features E-Carbon armor and a primary color scheme of orange and white. In flight mode, it exhibits an elongated, sharp triangular silhouette. The GN Drive is located at the crotch to accommodate docking. Wing-like GN Beam Shield units are mounted on both shoulders, uniting to form the nosecone in cruising mode. Beam sabers are stored behind the front armor, and GN submachine guns are concealed within both forearms. The GNHW/M loadout adds two GN missile containers, while the Ascalon configuration features a red body color, replaces the shoulder beam shields, and installs a massive GN Sword on the nose section.
Abilities
Capable of converting between Mobile Suit and flight modes, the machine delivers high aerial speed and maneuverability. It features the Trans-Am System and can dock with its dedicated support unit, the GN Archer, to enhance firepower and tactical options. Primary weaponry includes the GN Twin Beam Rifle—equipped with an articulating upper barrel for surface bombardment—and forearm-concealed GN Submachine Guns. Its shoulder-mounted GN Beam Shields form particle barrier defense and can also physically pincer and slice enemy machines when opened in flight mode. Additional armaments include nosecone GN Vulcans and GN Beam Sabers. The GNHW/M variant equips a two-handed GN Cannon with built-in vulcans alongside dual GN Missile Containers, while the Ascalon loadout utilizes a nosecone-integrated GN Beam Cannon and a large GN Sword.
Background
Engineered by Celestial Being during the four-year period following the battle with UN forces, the Arios Gundam was built under the absolute faith that missing Meister Allelujah Haptism would return. Upon rejoining, Allelujah immediately adapted to the unit. However, due to the initial absence of his alter-ego Hallelujah and quantum brainwaves, Arios struggled to perform at maximum efficiency, notably serving in the hangar as a Trans-Am power provider for Ptolemaios 2 during the Memento Mori mission. In the final conflict against the Innovators, the Trans-Am Burst reawakened Hallelujah, restoring their peak combat synergy to destroy Hilling Care's Garazzo. Post-war, the heavily damaged unit was repaired into the Arios Gundam Ascalon powered by a GN condenser for the support group Fereshte, but was ultimately assimilated and destroyed during an encounter with the ELS.
Relationships
Piloted primarily by Gundam Meister Allelujah Haptism, the unit achieves maximum potential when his combat alter-ego, Hallelujah Haptism, awakens. It operates in close connection with the GN Archer support machine, piloted by Marie Parfacy (Soma Peries). Designed by Celestial Being as the direct successor to the Gundam Kyrios, Arios destroyed Hilling Care's Garazzo in the final battle before taking heavy arm damage from Reborns Gundam's GN Fin Fangs. Post-war, it was modified into the Ascalon configuration under the organization Fereshte before being lost during an encounter with the ELS.
Trivia
Due to its role providing propulsion energy in the hangar during the Memento Mori mission, fans humorously nicknamed the unit the "GN Battery." Its sharply tapered flight profile and color scheme led to the nickname "Yubari Melon Bar," while its shield pincer attack is frequently dubbed the "GN Nipper." In Super Robot Wars Z2: Hakai-hen, the exceptionally high quality of its battle animations earned the responsible creator the affectionate fan title "Arios no Hito" (The Arios Person). In the arcade game Gundam VS. series, it initially debuted at a low 1000 cost before being raised to 2500 in Maxi Boost.
