Overview

Abigail Williams is a Foreigner-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order, debuting as a core character in the Sub-Singularity IV chapter set in Salem. Designed by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, her character is modeled after the historical figure associated with the 17th-century Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts. Initially introduced without revealing her True Name or Servant class, she serves as a pivotal figure tied to eldritch powers. Known as the "Silver Key," she embodies a dual nature, balancing the disposition of a devout, quiet Puritan girl with that of an entity connected to an Outer God.

Appearance

Abigail takes the form of a twelve-year-old girl with blue eyes and long blonde hair styled with parted bangs, decorated with multiple orange and purple hair bows. Her default attire consists of a black dress over white bloomers, accompanied by an oversized black witch hat and sleeves extending past her wrists and fingers. When displaying her powers or undergoing ascension, her skin and hair turn white, her eyes turn red, and a keyhole symbol appears on her forehead. Alternate visual forms feature neck ribbons covering her torso or wearing black undergarments.

Personality

Abigail is naturally polite, intelligent, and humble, possessing a deeply compassionate nature that leads her to treat others with equal respect regardless of their social background. Raised in a strict Puritan community, she tends to suppress her childish desires, though she becomes affectionate and dependent around those she trusts. She shows great enthusiasm when discussing her favorite food, pancakes. When influenced by the Outer God, her demeanor shifts into that of a rebellious "bad girl," displaying impulsive and aggressive behavior, yet her underlying childish innocence remains intact beneath her altered state.

Abilities

Functioning as the "Silver Key," Abigail can interact with any location in space through the Ultimate Gate, inherently possessing the power to distort space-time and physical laws. In combat, she attacks using white tentacles emerging from the ground or air, strikes with a stuffed doll, projects a rainbow beam from her forehead, and light purplish flames. In her awakened state, her arsenal includes suction-cup tentacles, striking or piercing with a giant key, swarming sinister butterflies, and firing rays from her forehead and tentacle tips. Her skills include Existence Outside the Domain, Divinity, Insanity, Loss of Sanity, and Witch Trials, alongside her Noble Phantasm, Qliphoth Rhizome.

Background

Abigail originates from the historical 17th-century Salem Witch Trials, where her early symptoms of possession served as the trigger for widespread panic, culminating in numerous arrests and executions within a strictly religious colonial village. In the story's events, the Demon God Pillar Raum recognizes her potential to serve as a medium for an Outer God, artificializing her into a Foreigner-class Servant known as the "Silver Key." Following the resolution of the Salem singularity, she is registered in the Throne of Heroes and summoned to Chaldea, carrying vague memories of the incident while grappling with inner guilt alongside her Master.

Relationships

Abigail holds a deep attachment and strong reliance on her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, occasionally showing possessive traits. She shares an unbreakable bond of friendship with Lavinia Whateley, an albino girl she met in Salem. Her existence is also connected to the Demon God Pillar Raum, who orchestrated her awakening, and Randolph Carter, who guides her journey across the cosmos. Within Chaldea, she maintains warm ties with fellow Servants such as Geronimo, while remaining protected by the lingering thoughts of figures like Charles-Henri Sanson, earning widespread affection from staff and Servants alike.

Trivia

Designed by illustrator Kouhaku Kuroboshi, Abigail has a notable fondness for pancakes, even performing a song dedicated to black cat pancakes in certain variants. Her preferences and personality shift notably across her Spirit Origin ascensions: while her first form lists mashed potatoes as a favorite and fears being labeled a witch, her later ascensions express a preference for alcohol and an aversion to dogs, reflecting her altered mental state.
