Overview
Romani Archaman is a male physician belonging to the Chaldea Security Organization in Fate/Grand Order. Serving as the head of the medical department, he is affectionately referred to by those around him as Dr. Roman. Throughout the story, he takes on a central command role at Chaldea, providing tactical and technical support for the protagonist and Mash Kyrielight during their singularity repair missions. Although he initially gives off an easygoing and flustered impression, he is an indispensable figure who carries the heavy responsibility of safeguarding humanity's future.
Appearance
He has long orange hair bound in a ponytail, featuring an ahoge on top and hair strands hanging between his green eyes. His attire consists of a white lab coat worn over a long-sleeved Chaldea uniform shirt, paired with white gloves on his hands and a gold ring on his finger.
Personality
He has a cheerful and approachable personality, though his talkative and casual demeanor often causes others to treat him as frivolous or unreliable. Despite his pleasant looks, he frequently ends up as comedic relief and gets easily disheartened when criticized by Servants. He is a passionate fan of the internet idol Magi☆Mari and has a major sweet tooth, especially enjoying cakes and tea. Beneath this relaxed exterior, however, he is fundamentally a realist with a gentle heart and a profound sense of responsibility, selflessly overworking himself without sleep to protect his allies.
Abilities
As Chaldea's chief medical officer, he possesses advanced medical knowledge and skills covering both physical treatment and mental care. He is highly knowledgeable in magecraft history, world mythologies, and folklore, with a solid background in magic studies. During operations, he handles Ray-shift transport support, Servant detection, management of observation tools like Sheba and the Chaldea furnace, and anchors the protagonist's existence status during transfers. While not naturally gifted as a absolute genius, he compensates through relentless effort and focus-enhancing drugs to manage organization logistics and operational command.
Background
He participated in the 2004 Fuyuki Holy Grail War as an assistant to Marisbury Animusphere, subsequently joining Chaldea's medical department in 2005. In truth, he was originally the Caster-class Servant, Solomon, summoned by Marisbury, who obtained human incarnation through a wish granted by the Holy Grail. Right before becoming human, he caught a glimpse of humanity's impending destruction, prompting him to spend years quietly preparing for the crisis. Escaping the explosion at Chaldea by chance because he was slacking off away from the control room, he assumed leadership as the highest-ranking survivor to guide the repair of humanity's singularities.
Relationships
He maintains a warm bond of trust with the protagonist, whom he met while slacking off in an unassigned room. As Mash Kyrielight's attending doctor, he receives her sincere gratitude despite her occasional exasperation with his goofy side. He shared a complex dynamic with former director Olga Marie Animusphere and holds a deeply trusting partnership with Leonardo da Vinci, who understands the heavy burdens he carries. His past ties include Marisbury Animusphere, his former Master, and Lev Lainur, a former research associate. Additionally, he shares a dry, familiar rapport with Merlin, the figure operating his beloved idol Magi☆Mari.
Trivia
A doctor nicknamed Dr. Roman also appears in Nasu Kinoko's novel DDD, serving as a star-system homage. His visual design was created by Takashi Takeuchi. He is notably particular about traditional Japanese sweets, explicitly favoring smooth bean paste. While he harbored a subtle dislike toward Pharaohs due to historical circumstances from his past life, he was fond of Egyptian female beauty. Within the overarching scenario design of Fate/Grand Order Part 1, his character arc served as the central framework, with key climax voice lines recorded years in advance during early development.
