Overview

Yu Mei-Ren, also known by her undercover identity Akuta Hinako, is an Assassin-class Servant in Fate/Grand Order. A pivotal character in the third Lostbelt chapter, SIN, she originally belonged to Chaldea's A-Team of Cryptors. Historically recognized as the beloved consort of the warlord Xiang Yu, Type-Moon lore establishes her as an incarnated elemental—an immortal spirit belonging to a blood-sucking species generated by the Earth's inner sea. While harboring profound hatred toward human society, she is endlessly devoted to Xiang Yu.

Appearance

Her baseline height is 160 cm and weight is 49 kg, both of which fluctuate slightly whenever she uses her Noble Phantasm due to imprecise physical regeneration. She features very long brown-black hair alongside red or brown eyes. Her primary attire is a strapless black dress with fur trim that leaves her shoulders and collarbone bare, complemented by jewelry including earrings. In her initial form as Akuta Hinako, she wears glasses, styles her hair in a braided ponytail, and holds a book. Upon revealing her true form, she discards the glasses and unbraids her hair.

Personality

She harbors an extreme hatred for humanity, displaying intense hostility and physiological aversion toward humans and their artificial social structures, which she considers unnatural. However, she respects the basic laws of nature, such as predation and survival of the fittest. Her former listless behavior as a Cryptor was merely a façade designed to avoid deep interactions and keep her true identity secret. In reality, she has a fierce and volatile temperament. The sole exception to this is her relationship with her husband, Xiang Yu, toward whom she shows unconditional devotion and concern for his safety.

Abilities

In battle, she dual-wields two swords cloaked in crimson magic, using versatile techniques such as remote blade control, drill-like spinning projectiles, and raining swords down from above. She relies on self-sacrificing tactics enabled by her immortality, paired with massive magical energy output. As an incarnated elemental, she directly absorbs environmental mana and utilizes Presence Concealment alongside the ability to drain energy from organic life. Her Anti-Army Noble Phantasm, Eternal Lament, involves destabilizing and destroying her physical form to summon a storm of curses before reconstructing her body, cleansing her status ailments while delivering a powerful defense-ignoring strike to all enemies.

Background

Recorded in historical texts as the companion of Xiang Yu who shared his tragic fate, Type-Moon lore reveals her as an immortal elemental who wandered the world for over two millennia after Xiang Yu's death. Exhausted by human fear and persecution by the Holy Church, she accepted an offer from Chaldea's founder, Marisbilly Animusphere, taking the name Akuta Hinako to join A-Team. In the Chinese Lostbelt, she attempted to stay hidden by concealing the Fantasy Tree under Qin Shi Huang's rule. During clashes with Chaldea, she absorbed her Servant Lanling Wang to restore her elemental form. Following Xiang Yu's demise, she was persuaded by Qin Shi Huang to become a Heroic Spirit registered in the Throne of Heroes to protect Human History.

Relationships

Xiang Yu is her beloved husband and the central motivation behind her actions, as she desires nothing more than to protect him from further warfare. Prince of Lanling was her Servant in the Chinese Lostbelt, whom she consumed in a dire situation to reclaim her elemental form. Qin Shi Huang used her bodily data to build his perfected physical form and ultimately guided her toward becoming a Heroic Spirit. Marisbilly Animusphere was the former Chaldea director who recruited her as a safeguard for Rayshifting. She bears intense hostility toward Koyanskaya due to the latter's betrayal and manipulative traps.

Trivia

The nickname for the corn poppy, Gubijinsō, stems from the tragic legend that vibrant poppies bloomed around her grave after her death. Owing to millennia of wandering and reckless body reassembly, she suffers from severe chronic back and shoulder stiffness, leading to a scene where an intense massage brings her to her knees. Despite her terrifying presence, her raw magic output level is considered comparable to average elementals or Mors found in fairy domains.
