Overview

In Fate/Grand Order, the Trung Sisters—consisting of the elder sister Trung Trac and the younger sister Trung Nhi—are summoned together as a single Saber-class Servant. Historically known for leading a first-century Vietnamese uprising against Eastern Han rule, they were initially announced under the temporary moniker of Good Friends Saber. On the surface, they present themselves as strong and composed leaders who rallied their people. At their core, however, they are defined by their deep sisterly bond, pairing a gentle-hearted older sister who dislikes conflict with a devoted, protective younger sister who supports her from the shadows.

Appearance

The elder sister, Trung Trac, has fair skin, blue eyes, and long, wavy green-tinted hair with multicolored streaks arranged in a ponytail with sidelocks. Her attire features a white shirt, a crop top, long and single sleeves, eyeliner, and a conical hat. In contrast, the younger sister, Trung Nhi, possesses tan skin, golden eyes, and hair blending blue, black, and gold tones. Both sisters carry weaponry formed from water and are accompanied by small elephants.

Personality

The elder sister, Trung Trac, is a refined, gentle, and sociable woman who possesses motherly warmth alongside a coolly analytical mind when leading her people. Privately, however, she dislikes conflict, lacks confidence in her battle fitness, and lets out her tired, soft side only around her sister. She also holds an unconventional affection for things she deems cute. The younger sister, Trung Nhi, appears emotionless and aloof, yet her primary motivation is intense devotion to her sister. Though often misunderstood due to her stern expression, her feelings are perfectly understood by Trung Trac, and she secretly shares a love for cute things.

Abilities

Classified as a Saber, the duo possesses Magic Resistance, Riding—with particular proficiency for elephants—and Divinity. Trung Trac fights with a sword while Trung Nhi utilizes a naginata. They manipulate water in combat, releasing water streams, forming rotary water saws, deploying spiked bamboo pendulums, and firing water projectiles or floating using bamboo tubes. Their skills include Charisma of Rebellion to bolster allies, Bond of Sisters, and Trung Thanh Vuong derived from rainmaking worship. Their Noble Phantasm, Fortresses of Rising Pride, unleashes a synchronized sword attack powered by the momentum of capturing sixty-five castles, supported by their enlarged small elephants.

Background

In first-century Vietnam, the sisters rose in armed rebellion against the oppressive rule of the Eastern Han dynasty after the tyrant prefect Su Ding executed Trung Trac's husband. Trung Trac rapidly brought sixty-five strongholds under her control and ascended to the throne. In response, the Han emperor dispatched general Ma Yuan to suppress the uprising. As momentum turned against them, local lords abandoned the sisters, leading to their ultimate defeat. According to legend, they ended their lives together by holding hands and leaping into a river. Long after their deaths, their legacy endured, and they came to be revered as deities of good fortune who brought rainfall in times of drought.

Relationships

Toward their Master, Trung Trac feels empathy for someone carrying an irreplaceable burden, while Trung Nhi keeps a protective eye on their proximity while trusting them. With the Dioscuri, another pair of Saber Servants, Trung Nhi clashes competitively with Castor over who is the superior sibling protector. They bond easily with Lakshmibai due to their shared history of defying empires. While Trung Nhi is wary of Ivan the Terrible and tentacled Servants like Abigail Williams and Katsushika Hokusai, Trung Trac finds them endearing. Trung Nhi also seeks to learn guerrilla tactics from Robin Hood.

Trivia

They represent the first Heroic Spirits hailing from Southeast Asia to be featured in the game. Reflecting historical Vietnamese woodcuts and statues that frequently depict the sisters alongside elephants, their character design prominently incorporates companion elephants. Furthermore, historical texts such as the 14th-century Vietnamese collection Viet Dien U Linh record how their spirits reportedly responded to prayers during a severe drought in the Ly Dynasty, bringing much-needed rainfall to the land.
