Overview
Phantas-Moon is the magical girl alter-ego of Arcueid Brunestud, the main heroine of Tsukihime. Originating in Eri Takenashi's fan manga TAKE MOON, she has appeared across various TYPE-MOON media, including the anime Carnival Phantasm, Fate/tiger colosseum UPPER, and Fate/Grand Order. Manifesting as a white-clad magical girl who embodies the will of the planet, she claims to battle evil to bring courage and hope to humanity. Almost invincible under a full moon, she combines formidable True Ancestor powers with absurd, comedy-driven antics.
Appearance
Phantas-Moon has short blonde hair, red eyes, and a white-based magical girl outfit. Her design incorporates a crescent hair ornament, bows, a blue skirt, an open jacket, gloves, and striped thighhighs, leaving her shoulders exposed. She is sometimes depicted with cat ears. She wields a magic wand stolen from Medea, an elf-eared woman in Fuyuki City. Depending on her ascension form, her attire shifts to a streamer outfit or a Santa-themed costume, while her original True Ancestor dress briefly manifests when using her Noble Phantasm.
Personality
Phantas-Moon presents herself as a champion of justice dedicated to spreading courage and hope, though as a vampire, she is still learning human emotions. Cheerful, energetic, and highly whimsical, she behaves with playful selfishness. Beneath her cute exterior lies a blunt, brute-force combat style. When irritated or pushed too far, her bubbly demeanor drops, revealing the raw, intimidating nature of a True Ancestor. She has a deep fascination with modern human culture, live streaming, and Christmas, frequently entangling those around her in her erratic logic.
Abilities
She fights by using her magic wand like a bat or enlarging it like a spear, firing light projectiles, and executing moon-themed kicks, spinning tackles, and massive light-sphere strikes. In her streamer form, she utilizes gaming interface attacks, laser beams, and Neco-Arc rocket drops, while her Santa form attacks with present boxes, avalanches, and giant cakes. Through Marble Phantasm, she generates natural matter at will, though artificial objects suffer low accuracy. Her Noble Phantasm, Marble Phantasm - Happy Verse, unleashes her raw True Ancestor power to crush targets with a giant wand.
Background
Originating in Takenashi Eri's manga TAKE MOON, Phantas-Moon took center stage in the anime short series White Tsukihime Phantas-Moon within Carnival Phantasm. In her early stories, she travels to Fuyuki City as an ally of justice, embarking on a quest alongside Shirou Emiya to defeat an evil magus. After guest appearances in games such as Fate/tiger colosseum UPPER, she made a major official playable debut in Fate/Grand Order during a holiday event, summoned as a Pretender-class Servant.
Relationships
She holds deep affection for Tohno Shiki, viewing him as her Tuxedo Mask figure. Ciel acts as her eternal rival and long-suffering supervisor who constantly cleans up after her wild antics. She originally stole her magic wand from Medea, who later provided her with a replica. She engages in fierce rivalries with Akiha Tohno, whom she views as a red-haired monster. She treats Fujimaru Ritsuka as her Master and producer, while maintaining lively interactions with figures like Osakabehime, Aozaki Aoko, and BB Cosmo.
Trivia
Certain battle motions and skill activation lines in Fate/Grand Order directly reference the lyrics and dance choreography from the opening theme song Super☆Affection of the anime Carnival Phantasm. Additionally, lore within her universe notes that her fictional in-universe anime series, White Tsukihime Phantas-Moon, suffered from quirky viewership due to Len constantly introducing bizarre ingredients during climax scenes, yet it still managed to become popular enough to spawn a feature film.
