Overview
Medea (Lily) is a Caster-class Servant featured in the Fate series, most prominently in Fate/Grand Order. She represents the legendary Princess of Colchis at fourteen years of age, summoned from the era before she earned her tragic reputation as a ruthless witch. Innocent and sweet-natured, she embodies a sheltered royal maiden who was still studying magecraft under the goddess Hecate. While her offensive capabilities are modest compared to her adult counterpart, her extraordinary talents in healing magic make her an invaluable support Servant on the battlefield.
Appearance
She possesses pointy ears, bright blue eyes, and long blue hair tied up in a high ponytail. Her attire features a strapless dress exposing her collarbone, overlaid with a sheer, see-through capelet. She wears mismatched gloves on her hands and asymmetrical thigh-high boots on her legs. When taking action, she carries the mystical Staff of Hecate.
Personality
Pure-hearted, devoted, and eager to be of service, Medea Lily treats her Master with earnest affection, often doting on them like a dutiful young bride and offering homemade honey pancakes. However, despite her sweet demeanor, she harbors a subtly pessimistic core, feeling uneasy whenever she receives good fortune. She is also a starry-eyed romantic who adores stories of arranged marriages turning into true love. Driven by pure intentions and a slightly surreal sense of logic, her attempts to help others can occasionally escalate into astonishingly drastic behavior.
Abilities
Specializing heavily in support magic, she utilizes Territory Creation to establish healing facilities and Item Construction to brew restorative potions. Through High-Speed Incantation, she casts grand magecraft instantly, while her innate poison immunity cleanses surrounding afflictions. In battle, she unleashes magical beams, light pillars, toxic pools, and even compressed giant pancakes. Her Noble Phantasm, Pain Breaker, calculates the soul's true design to completely revert all non-lethal injuries, curses, and status ailments back to their original undamaged state.
Background
Originating as the princess of Colchis, she spent her youth learning high magecraft under the tutelage of the goddess Hecate. Summoned in her innocent fourteen-year-old state, she exists prior to her fateful encounter with Jason and her subsequent tragic descent into becoming a feared witch. During the singularity in Okeanos, unique summoning circumstances forced her into an antagonist role where she utilized Jason as a vessel for a Demon God Pillar; nevertheless, her actions stemmed from an earnest desire to protect him. She subsequently aids humanity across various key battles and special singularities.
Relationships
She holds complex feelings toward her former husband, Jason, maintaining a critical view of his flaws while acknowledging his bravery in dire situations. She expresses harsh contempt for her father, King Aeetes, but shares a deep magical lineage with her aunt and mentor, Circe. Her adult self, Medea, views Lily with embarrassment as a mortifyingly naive past, despite Lily possessing superior supportive spellcasting power. She shows intense loyalty toward her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, and maintains a harmonious bond with Watanabe no Tsun.
Trivia
Designed by illustrator Koyama Hirokazu, her ponytail hair concept differs from the short bob hairstyle used in flashback scenes in Fate/hollow ataraxia. In Fate/Grand Order, despite her friendly demeanor, she unexpectedly requires one of the highest amounts of Bond Points among four-star Servants to reach Bond Level 5. In the Prisma Causeway collaboration event, she appeared as the magical girl "Medical Media," presiding over a surreal dystopian maritime state.
