Overview

Astraea is a Ruler-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order. As a Pseudo-Servant, the Greek goddess of justice and scales manifests using the body of Luviagelita Edelfelt. Guided by an innate sense of order and goodness, she takes on the role of a strict yet supportive mentor to her Master during their quest to restore human history.

Appearance

She inherits her vessel's distinct blonde twin-drill hairstyle, though the lower half of her curls is dyed a cosmic blue gradient. She has yellow eyes and wears a blue and white outfit characterized by bare shoulders, blue lingerie elements, dresses, hair ornaments, and bows. As visual symbols of her identity, she carries a sword and a pair of scales.

Personality

Astraea is inherently fair and righteous, viewing her divinity as an absolute duty rather than a privilege. However, she possesses a peculiar habit of claiming priority over rare or valuable items under the pretense of personal protection. Heavily influenced by her host's personality, she displays a striking passion for professional wrestling and will unhesitatingly inflict severe physical discipline—such as dropkicks—upon anyone she deems rude or unrefined.

Abilities

She possesses formidable divine skills including absolute defensive protection and cosmic judgment, utilizing highly aggressive magical energy composed of divine and stellar authority. In combat, she discards her armaments to deliver physical strikes such as hip attacks, dropkicks, sliding kicks, and ruby-reinforced punches combined with jewel sorcery. Her Noble Phantasm, Custos Morum, drags enemies into a starry courtroom to rain celestial particles upon them, finishing with a powerful backdrop suplex.

Background

In mythology, Astraea is the daughter of Zeus and Themis. During the Iron Age, when evil corrupted humanity, she was the last deity to remain on Earth proclaiming justice before ascending to become the constellations Virgo and Libra. In later eras, she became widely identified with Lady Justice. Due to her vessel's connection to Lord El-Melloi II, she manifested as a Servant during the anomalies facing humanity.

Relationships

Astraea is the daughter of Zeus, making her half-sibling to Artemis, Heracles, and Perseus, as well as niece to Chiron and cousin to Orion. She harbors an intense rivalry with Ishtar, who uses Rin Tohsaka as a host. She exhibits complex emotions toward Emiya, Emiya Alter, and Senji Muramasa due to her host's lingering attachments, while maintaining a dry working relationship with Zhuge Liang (Lord El-Melloi II).

Trivia

Design-wise, Astraea is considered the thematic archetype for the Ruler class card illustration. Her match with Luviagelita Edelfelt was made possible despite weak Holy Grail connections because the Edelfelt family lineage is also symbolically tied to scales. Her signature backdrop finisher in her Noble Phantasm has earned her a distinct reputation among fans.
