Overview

Locusta is an Assassin-class Servant introduced in Fate/Grand Order. Based on the historical Roman figure from the first century, she is renowned as one of Europe's iconic poisoners who served the Julian-Claudian dynasty. In the Fate universe, she is fanatically devoted to Nero Claudius. Despite her dangerous expertise in compounding fatal toxins, she brings an energetic, chaotic presence to the protagonist's journey, often blending her morbid talents with an eccentric passion for mushrooms.

Appearance

Locusta features short, purple-to-multicolored gradient hair, matching purple eyes, and sharp, pointed teeth. Her attire includes a signature headpiece and fingerless gloves. In combat, she wields poison-tipped claw weapons and utilizes bio-hazardous mushrooms that explode upon contact, which she can hurl, sprout from the ground, or manifest directly on her targets.

Personality

Locusta is a hyperactive eccentric who frequently breaks the fourth wall with casual meta-humor. She possesses a obsessive passion for collecting mushrooms and preparing toxic cuisine, which she cheerful serves to others without any ill intent. Though her lack of safety boundaries makes her dangerous, she maintains a bubbly demeanor and remains deeply loyal to those connected to her beloved Emperor Nero.

Abilities

In battle, Locusta utilizes combat skills like Poison Concoction to create magically indelible toxins and Cooking (Mushroom) to boost her culinary poison delivery. Through her Robustness (Poison) trait, she converts toxic status damage inflicted on herself into HP recovery. Her Noble Phantasm, Finis Fungus, drenches targets in a lethal, boiling mushroom stew. She also possesses a specialized suicide Noble Phantasm, Finis Venenum Nero, containing a painless lethal poison designed exclusively for Nero.

Background

Historically discovered by Empress Agrippina, Locusta compounded the poison used to assassinate Emperor Claudius. Upon Nero's ascension to the throne, she served as the emperor's personal poisoner and orchestrated the death of his stepbrother Britannicus along with several political figures. Recognized throughout European history as an archetype of the professional assassin, her legacy inspired famous literary references, including mentions in Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo.

Relationships

Locusta harbors absolute worship for Nero Claudius and extends deep trust to her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka. Conversely, she retained a lingering dread toward Nero's mother, Julia Agrippina. Within Chaldea, she treats the legendary poisoner Semiramis as a beloved idol, constantly seeks to bond with Hassan of Serenity, and expresses comedic disbelief toward heroes like Arash who are completely immune to her concoctions.

Trivia

Due to her purple mushroom-centric theme, fans playfully compare her to Type-Moon author Kinoko Nasu. Her unique gameplay mechanic of turning poison damage into healing has also earned her humorous comparisons to toxic-healing creatures in other popular gaming franchises.
