Overview

Vlad III is a Servant appearing in works such as Fate/Apocrypha, where he serves as the leader of the Black Faction in the Great Holy Grail War. The historical ruler of Wallachia known as the Impaler Prince, he defended his homeland against the invasion of the Ottoman Empire. However, his legacy was heavily distorted by Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, spreading his reputation worldwide as a bloodthirsty monster. His wish for the Holy Grail is to completely erase the vampiric stigma attached to his name and restore his genuine honor as a heroic monarch.

Appearance

Vlad III wears black aristocratic attire paired with a mantle. He features long white or blonde hair, blue eyes, and facial hair. Standing at 191 cm tall, he possesses an imposing and regal physical presence.

Personality

Deeply devout and honorable, Vlad III carries himself with absolute royal authority, addressing himself with sovereign pride. He is exceptionally broad-minded and respectful toward loyal subjects and capable allies, valuing talented individuals above all. Conversely, he is merciless to enemies and those who threaten his kingdom. While accepting his tragic historical fate, he harbor an intense hatred for the baseless dishonor cast upon him by public rumors. In his spare time, he enjoys handcrafts such as embroidery, a hobby picked up during a past period of confinement.

Abilities

Through his skill Demonic Defender of the State, he gains a massive combat boost equivalent to A-rank Mad Enhancement when fighting within a domain established over ley lines. His Noble Phantasm, Kazikli Bey: Lord of Execution, allows him to summon up to 20,000 bloody stakes within his territory to impale and purge enemy forces. Another Noble Phantasm, Legend of Dracula, forces his transformation into a powerful vampire, granting enhanced physical abilities, shapeshifting into mist or animals, and rapid healing, though it bestows vulnerabilities to sunlight and holy symbols. He adamantly refuses to use this transformation.

Background

As the ruler of Wallachia, Vlad III repeatedly repelled the invading forces of the formidable Ottoman Empire using harsh, terrifying tactics such as mass impalement. However, his unyielding punitive policies alienated his own nobility, ultimately leading to his assassination by his own men. In modern times, the overwhelming global reach of Bram Stoker's novel overshadowed his true accomplishments, prompting him to answer the call of the Holy Grail War to cleanse his name.

Relationships

He places immense trust in his Master, Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia, valuing his seriousness and strategic mind. Among his fellow Servants in the Black Faction, he deeply respects Siegfried (Siegfried of Black) as an ideal subordinate and holds Chiron (Archer of Black) in high esteem as a great sage. In his mortal life, his greatest historical enemy was Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottoman Empire.

Trivia

When summoned within Romania, the maximum level of regional fame boosting significantly elevates nearly all of his physical stats beyond their base parameters.
