Overview
A Servant appearing in the Fate series, Saint Georgios is a Christian saint renowned for slaying a toxic dragon with his holy sword Ascalon. Originally created for the proposed online game version of Fate/Apocrypha, his design was initially shelved before making his official debut in Fate/Grand Order. Summoned under the Rider class, he acts as a righteous knight dedicated to shielding and guiding the weak, functioning as a defensive guardian.
Appearance
He features long brown hair with strands falling between his eyes, paired with brown eyes. His outfit consists of a white cape, a white cloak, armor with gauntlets and gloves, and a surcoat marked with a red cross. While official settings note that he possesses a red chin beard matching his hair color, graphic depictions obscure his chin area.
Personality
A deeply compassionate and thoughtful saint who treats even villains with mercy, viewing them as weak individuals unable to support themselves without violence. However, he does not tolerate unjust harm against the innocent and steps up bravely to protect others. He takes a teacher-like demeanor toward his Master, offering earnest counsel. Upon being summoned in modern times, he develops a strong passion for photography and travel, carrying a camera around.
Abilities
Georgios boasts exceptionally high defensive capabilities. He possesses Class skills including Magic Resistance (A) and Riding (B), along with personal skills such as Guardian Knight (A+) to temporarily raise defense when protecting others, Soul of the Martyr (B+) to negate mental interference, and Battle Continuation (A) granting immense vitality from the earth. His Noble Phantasms include Ascalon (B-rank Anti-Personnel), an invincible sword that shields the user from harm; Abyssus Draconis (C-rank Anti-Army), which temporarily attributes the Dragon trait to targets; Interfectum Dracones, combining Ascalon with dragon-slaying power; and Bayard (C-rank Anti-Personnel), a magical white horse that negates one fatal attack.
Background
Historically a Roman military officer under Emperor Diocletian, Georgios martyred himself after standing up against the severe persecution of Christians. Legendary tales recall his triumph over a toxic dragon threatening a town, saving a sacrificed princess and converting thousands to the faith through baptism. Other legends state he was raised by the witch Kalyb, who gifted him his magic horse Bayard. In Fate/Grand Order's Orleans chapter, he is summoned by Counter Force to shield civilians from dragon swarms and helps lift the curse afflicting Siegfried.
Relationships
He shows unyielding loyalty to Fujimaru Ritsuka while taking on the role of a stern yet benevolent mentor. Mash Kyrielight affectionately addresses him, though he frequently gently corrects her choice of address. He shares a strong bond of mutual respect with Siegfried as a fellow dragon-slaying hero after fighting alongside him in Orleans, and he maintains friendly relations with fellow saint Servants like Martha and Jeanne d'Arc.
Trivia
His name originates from Greek roots meaning 'earth' and 'worker', combining into 'farmer'. He serves as a patron saint of England, celebrated annually on Saint George's Day on April 23. Despite being a 2-star low-rarity Servant in Fate/Grand Order, he holds a remarkably high HP pool and defense kit, uniquely holding a record among early Servants for going the longest duration without receiving any Skill or Noble Phantasm Rank-Up Quests.
