Overview

Miyamoto Musashi, whose true name is Shinmen Musashi no Kami Fujiwara no Harunobu, is a Saber-class Servant featured in Fate/Grand Order. Unlike the traditional figure of human history, she originates from a pruned parallel timeline where she was born as a female warrior. After her home dimension dissolved into ash, she became an interdimensional wanderer navigating space-time distortions. She eventually forms a contract with Ritsuka Fujimaru, serving as a pivotal companion and formidable blade in battles across various singularities and Lostbelts.

Appearance

Musashi has long pink hair tied into a ponytail held by a fan-shaped hair ornament, blue eyes, and a prominent bust. She wears earrings patterned after maple leaves. Her initial outfit consists of a blue sleeveless kimono tied with an obi, paired with black detached sleeves, black thigh-high stockings, and sandals. In later ascensions, her attire becomes more elaborate, featuring an exposed midriff, revealed shoulders and chest, widened sleeves, and red fabric adorned with maple leaf prints. She carries two sheathed katanas at her waist while actively wielding two more for dual-sword combat.

Personality

Musashi possesses a cheerful, vibrant, and relaxed personality. Indifferent to fame or victory, she is thoroughly casual and easily lured by free meals, alcohol, and complimentary lodging. She has a strong fondness for udon and exhibits an open appreciation for handsome youths and pretty girls. While typically acting as a lighthearted wanderer, she becomes profoundly pragmatic and cold-minded when facing lethal swordplay. She harbors intense indignation toward cruel individuals who trample human dignity for amusement or attack during meals, and maintains a rebellious yet respectful stance toward her father.

Abilities

Operating with high physical attributes despite low mana, Musashi fights using Niten Ichi-ryu dual-wielding techniques and mid-range shockwaves. Her Magic Resistance neutralizes spells of rank A or below. The Fifth Force skill doubles the hit count of her strikes while enhancing NP and star generation. Through the Empyrean Eye, she focuses space and time into a single guaranteed outcome, granting invincibility bypass. The Voidness skill elevates her swordsmanship to an unreachable state impervious to multidimensional refraction attacks. Battle Continuation grants extreme survivability. Her Noble Phantasm, Rikudou Gorin - Kurikara Tenshou, unleashes Nioh sword pressure to cut down fate, karma, and curses, reaching zero.

Background

Born in a parallel version of Japan that was excised from history as a pruned timeline, Musashi escaped total erasure when her reality dissolved, becoming a wanderer drifting through space-time rifts. During her interdimensional travels, she honed her skills against famous swordsmen across various worlds, including the Yoshioka clan and the Yagyu family. After crossing paths with Chaldea, she played a decisive role in resolving the Shimousa singularity, officially becoming a Servant. She continues her journey across dimensions, acting as a crucial ally to Ritsuka Fujimaru throughout the Lostbelt crises.

Relationships

Musashi places immense trust in Ritsuka Fujimaru, viewing the protagonist as both her Master and a treasured travel partner. Toward her father, Shinmen Munisai, she harbors strong rebellious feelings due to being disowned for her gender, yet still respects his prowess as a benchmark in swordsmanship. During her dimensional drifting, she met the true Sasaki Kojirou of human history. She also maintains a close, bickering, yet deeply reliant relationship with the legendary blacksmith Senji Muramasa across her adventures.

Trivia

Her in-game love for udon noodles is believed to be a humorous pun on the Japanese term men-kui, which means both a lover of noodles and someone attracted to handsome faces. Unlike the historical male version of Miyamoto Musashi, she does not possess the Oar Wooden Sword Noble Phantasm. She also appears in summer events in a Berserker swimsuit attire, dual-wielding handguns alongside a blade.
